Press release June 1 from Assemblyman Steve Hawley:
“I would like to thank Gov. Cuomo and my fellow legislators for finally stepping up and making the veteran buy-back credit a reality. This is a great example of bipartisanship. Our vets have waited far too long to receive the recognition they deserve, and the opportunity to purchase back their service time from the state is a small show of gratitude for those who have sacrificed more than we can imagine.
"As a veteran, son of a veteran and Ranking Member on the Assembly’s Veterans’ Affairs Committee, I can attest to the hardships and commitment of our servicemen and women and will continue to fight for more programs and services to help those who have fought for our liberty and freedom.”
Finally, after years of delay
Finally, after years of delay, all veterans will be treated equally
Long overdue. And I'd say
Long overdue. And I'd say that it's a calculated move by Cuomo to beat Trump to the punch.
Brian, it's a state law,
Brian, it's a state law, Trump has nothing to do with it
I realize that John, but just
I realize that John, but just as it seems that Cuomo was trying to beat the Feds [Obama] to the punch on new gun control with his SAFE Act... and in light of the fact that similar action should be nationally enacted... and since Trump would likely do so... Cuomo just took one of Trump's strong campaign points away at least in NYS. And Trump could actually win NYS in Dec, so every little piece counts.
Brian. You wrote, "And Trump
Brian. You wrote, "And Trump could actually win NYS in Dec, ...".
Not sure, so I'm only assuming that Dec stands for December. What's going on in December? What's Trump possibly able to win in December?
"Man of the Year"? "America's Richest Loser"? "Le Coiffure de Internationale"?
Please explain what you meant, Brian. Thanks!
Brian, are trying to say
Brian, are you trying to say Trump will enact a "Safe Act" or a national vets buy back?
Maybe the calendar is
Maybe the calendar is different for him than us?
