Car wreck with injuries on Alleghany Road, Corfu

A two-car accident with injuries is reported at 9114 Alleghany Road, in front of the hair salon and in a construction area. One driver is unresponsive. Corfu Fire Department and Mercy EMS are responding.

UPDATE 1:31 p.m.: A second ambulance is requested.

UPDATE 1:32 p.m.: The driver who was unresponsive is now alert and answering questions.

UPDATE 1:47 p.m.: The driver who is the more injured of the two victims, a woman who was initially unresponsive, is now said to be "sort of alert." "She rear-ended the other car and took a pretty good blow," says a responder. Sheriff's deputies are also on scene. The other driver is out and able to walk.

UPDATE 1:59 p.m. One patient is being transported to Erie County Medical Center.

UPDATE 2:05 p.m.: A second victim is also being taken to ECMC being taken to UMMC. She is 64-year-old female whose vehicle was struck from behind. All units are clearing the scene.

One person hurt in three-car accident at Ledge and Route 77, Alabama

The driver of a 2004 Olds sedan stopped on Ledge Road at 1:36 p.m. reportedly pulled out onto Route 77 as another car approached, causing a three-car accident in Alabama.

One person, Leah E. Ridder, 14, was injured and taken by ambulance to Medina Memorial Hospital.

Cited for alleged failure to yield the right of way was Donna M. Croft, 59, of Montclaire Avenue, Batavia.

Neither Croft nor her passenger, Dalton K. Tusing, were injured.

Leah Ridder was a passenger in a car driven by Christopher F. Ridder, 41, of South Main Street, Medina.

Ridder's 1999 Chevy sedan was northbound on Route 77 when it struck Croft's eastbound car.

A car driven by Judith M. Cummings, 68, of Martin Road, Akron, was sitting in the westbound lane of Ledge Road and was struck by Croft's vehicle after it was hit by Ridder's car.

Neither Cummings nor her passenger, James L. Cummings, 67, were injured.

The accident was investigated by Deputy Chris Parker.

Car crash at Route 77 and Ledge Road, Alabama

A three-car accident with one minor facial injury is reported at Route 77 and Ledge Road. It is partially blocking traffic. Alabama Fire Department and Mercy medics are responding. Law enforcement is on scene.

Husband and wife from Bethany collide in accident in Middlebury

A 65-year-old Bethany resident was injured Thursday, Oct. 26, when his motorcycle was struck by a car driven by his wife on Bank Road in the Town of Middlebury.

Ronald H. Stanton was stopped on the highway facing north talking with a person in another vehicle that was parked on the shoulder.

Ellen J. Stanton, 59, failed to see her husband stopped on the road and her vehicle struck the rear of the motorcycle ejecting Stanton.

Ronald Stanton suffered head, shoulder and knee injuries. He was transported by Warsaw Ambulance to Wyoming County Hospital.

Ellen Stanton was transported to UMMC by Mercy EMS for hand and arm injuries.

None of the injuries are considered life threatening and no citations were issued.

The accident was investigated by State Police in Warsaw.

Car crash on West Sweden Road, Bergen

A two-car accident, with unknown injuries, is reported in Bergen at 5853 W. Sweden Road, south of the intersection with North Bergen Road. Bergen fire and Mercy medics are responding.

UPDATE 3:20 p.m.: There is reportedly one patient.

UPDATE 3:21 p.m.: One of the cars is leaking fluids.

UPDATE 3:29 p.m.: Cook Road at Creamery will be shut to traffic.

UPDATE 3:31 p.m.: Eastbound traffic on North Bergen Road will be turned back at West Sweden.

UPDATE 4:01 p.m.: One patient is being taken to Strong Memorial Hospital. Tow trucks are responding to the scene to remove the wrecked vehicles.

Person in Bergen falls 15 feet from residential rooftop

A person has fallen 15 feet from a residential rooftop on Clinton Street, Bergen.

Bergen fire and Mercy EMS dispatched.

A medical first responder reports Mercy Flight will not be needed.

The call is the second report this morning of a person falling from a roof. The first was on Pearl Street Road in East Pembroke's district.

UPDATE 9:15 a.m.: Patient being transported to Strong.

Unexpected turn signal reportedly caused biker to lose control

A motorcyclist who was injured in a rollover accident at 1:41 p.m., Friday, said a rider on another bike unexpectedly put on a right-turn signal.

Michale P. Julicher, 61, of Millersport Highway, Amherst, was riding on Bloomingdale Road, Alabama. He said he tried to lay down his 2009 Honda because he didn't believe he had time to stop.

Julicher was transported to ECMC by Mercy Flight.

The accident was investigated by Deputy Chris Parker. No citations were issued.

Car wreck with injuries on Park Road, Batavia

A motor-vehicle accident with injuries is reported in front of 8204 Park Road, just off of Oak Street. Town of Batavia Fire Department and Mercy medics are responding.

UPDATE 5:22 p.m.: A responder on scene says there's one minor chest injury, probably due to seat belt friction. Three vehicles are involved.

Rollover motorcycle accident reported on Bloomingdale Road, Alabama

A rollover motorcycle accident is reported at the intersection of Bloomingdale and Martin roads.

It's believed there are injuries.

Mercy Flight is on standby.

Alabama Fire Department and Mercy EMS responding.

UPDATE 1:49 p.m.: The victim is alert and conscious, complaining of back pain.

UPDATE 1:55 p.m.: Mercy Flight 5 will be responding to the scene from Buffalo and will land on Martin Road.

UPDATE 2:13 p.m.: Mercy Flight landed a few minutes ago and is loading the patient, who is described as a man in his 50s. He had no loss of consciousness "but the motorcycle did go end over end."

UPDATE 2:19 p.m.: No more traffic is allowed on Martin Road.

UPDATE 2:26 p.m.: Mercy Flight is airborne and headed to Erie County Medical Center. Martin Road is reopened.

UPDATE 2:33 p.m.: Alabama is back in service.

Car crash at Tower Hill and Byron roads, Byron

A two-car accident is reported at the intersection of Tower Hill and Byron roads. There's one minor injury and it is blocking traffic. Byron and South Byron fire departments and Mercy medics are responding.

UPDATE 5:07 p.m.: A responder on scene says "We've got extensive damage and a helluva debris field." One person will need to be extricated.

UPDATE 5:13 p.m.: The location is actually Byron Road, south of Tower Hill Road.

UPDATE 6:01 p.m.: The roadway is reopened.

UPDATE 6:05 p.m.: South Byron is back in service.

Driver injured in rollover accident on Indian Falls Road

A driver was injured in a single-car accident on Indian Falls Road, Pembroke, shortly after midnight when he lost control of his vehicle and it overturned near Airville Road.

Scott Moore, 31, of Trumbull Parkway, Batavia, was transported to ECMC.

Charges are pending against Moore, according to the Sheriff's Office report prepared by Deputy Howard Carlson.

Moore was eastbound on Indian Falls at 12:49 a.m. when he reportedly failed to maintain his lane and exited the roadway off the left shoulder. The 2000 GMC pickup struck a ditch, overturned, struck a telephone box and came to rest on its roof.

Fuel tanker off the road on Ledge Road, Alabama

A tractor-trailer transporting fuel is off the road in the area of 1125 Ledge Road, Alabama.

It's unknown yet if the tanker is leaking.

Some utility poles were hit, but there doesn't appear to be any wires down.

No injuries are reported.

Alabama Fire Department is responding. Ledge Road is being closed while responders evaluate the scene.

UPDATE 10:19 p.m.: National Grid requested to the scene for a damaged pole. No lines are down.

UPDATE 10:21 p.m.: The tanker is upright and sustained only minor damage to the rear portion.

UPDATE 10:49 p.m.: Scene being turned over to Sheriff's Office. Alabama back in service.

Head-on collision on Route 20 in Darien claims life of mother, seriously injures her daughter

A family's Sunday drive through Darien turned fatal today after a driver swerved into oncoming traffic to avoid a car making a left-hand turn from Route 20 onto Warner Road.

Audrey Gleason, 55, of Baldwinsville, was pronounced dead ECMC after being transported there by Mercy Flight following the 3:08 p.m. accident.

Gleason was in the passenger seat of a white Toyota Rav 4, driven by her husband, Dennis Gleason, 58.

Their 16-year-old dauther, Kelly, was in the back seat and was also seriously injured. A second Mercy Flight helicopter transported her to Women's and Children's Hospital in Buffalo.

Their vehicle was hit head on by a red Chrysler 300 driven by Gerald Kania.

Kania was westbound after getting off work.

At Warner Road, a black 2007 Chevy Trail Blazer driven by Darlene Clark had stopped to make a left-hand turn.

Kania said he was distracted for a moment and did not see Clark stopping to turn. He swerved left to avoid rear-ending her vehicle. He sideswiped the Chevy, damaging a taillight and the driver's side mirror.

A fraction of a second later, the Rav 4 and the Chrysler slammed head-on.

The accident location was directly in front of 1081 Broadway, the location of a house fire in January 2011. The owner of the property has numerous stored items she has been selling in her front yard recently, including today. She said she did not see the accident.

Dennis Gleason was transported by Mercy EMS to ECMC.

Kania suffered a leg injury and was transported to ECMC by ground ambulance.

Darien Fire Department responded to the scene and Corfu fire and Alden fire provided traffic control on Route 20.

Route 20 was closed from 3 p.m. until 6:40 p.m.

Head-on collision at Route 20 and Warner Road, Darien

A head-on collision is reported at Route 20 and Warner Road. One person is unconscious. Mercy Flight is on in-air standby. Darien Fire Department, Mercy medics and law enforcement are responding.

UPDATE 3:21 p.m.: Mercy Flight is called to the scene and it has about a five-minute ETA. Corfu Fire Police are asked to shut down traffic at Route 20 and Route 77. Traffic will also be stopped at Broadway and Harlow roads. Several ambulances are headed to the scene.

UPDATE 3:25 p.m.: Corfu responders are told to use caution when approaching the scene as southbound traffic on Route 77 "is busy and there's no where to pull over." It appears there are only two vehicles involved. Mercy Flight 5 out of Batavia is about to land.

UPDATE 3:28 p.m.: A second Mercy Flight helicopter is called for.

UPDATE 3:30 p.m.: Mercy Flight 7 out of Buffalo is flying in, with a 12-minute ETA.

UPDATE 3:35 p.m.: A third vehicle was also involved in the accident.

UPDATE 3:48 p.m.: The second bird has landed. Two patients will be transported in Mercy rigs and each helicopter will have a patient on board. Buffalo General Hospital is the only destination mentioned so far.

UPDATE 4 p.m.: All patients are going to Erie County Medical Center.

UPDATE 4:10 p.m.: The roadways will remain closed until the accident investigation is completed.

UPDATE 6:40 p.m.: Route 20 is reopened.

Car crash in front of Jan's Smoke Shop on the rez

A two-car accident with minor injuries is reported in front of Jan's Smoke Shop, 383 Bloomingdale Road. Alabama Fire Department and Mercy medics are responding.

UPDATE 2:33 p.m.: Mercy medics are back in service. Those involved in the accident are sign-offs and require no medical attention.

UPDATE 2:35 p.m.: Alabama is back in service.

Photo and video: Minor property damage accident at I.R. Systems, Batavia

Workers repair the facade at I.R. Systems, a DirecTV dealership, on West Main Street, Batavia, after a car had slammed into the front of the building.

The driver apparently stepped on the gas by mistake while pulling into a parking spot. Nobody was hurt in the accident, but judging from the video below, it's possible somebody could have been hurt. The car suffered only very minor damage, according to I.R. Systems staff.

The accident occurred about 1 p.m.

Car crash on Drake Street Road, Elba

A car accident with one minor injury is reported in Elba on Drake Street Road. It will be shut down at Pekin and Weatherwax roads. Elba Fire Department and Mercy medics are responding.

UPDATE 6:58 p.m.: The car landed 20 feet off the roadway, into a ditch. A flatbed tow was called in. A patient was transported to UMMC.

UPDATE 7:15 p.m.: The road is reopened. Elba is back in service.

Driver cited for alleged failure to yield right of way following accident in Pembroke

A driver allegedly turned her car in front of another vehicle causing a minor-injury accident on Route 77 in Pembroke at 5:28 p.m., Sunday.

Cited for alleged failure to yield the right of way was Bernadine Lindquist, 77, of Judge Road, Basom.

Lindquist was the only person treated at a hospital after the accident. She was transported by Mercy EMS to UMMC.

Her passenger, Ray Lindquist-Saile, 10, was not injured.

The other driver, Gregory M. Deiuba, 20, of Margaret Drive, Clarence, complained of pain, but was not taken to a hospital.

According to Deputy Tim Westcott's report, Lindquist was northbound on Route 77 when she attempted to make a left-hand turn into the Flying J parking lot. Her 2006 Dodge sedan was struck by Deiuba's 1999 Nissan SUV.

Accident with injuries reported on Route 33 at West Bergen Road

A motor-vehicle accident with injuries has been reported on Route 33 and West Bergen Road.

Bergen Fire Department and Mercy EMS dispatched.

UPDATE 8:05 p.m.: First chief on scene reports a car off the side of the road.

UPDATE 8:09 p.m.: A chief reports no entrapment. Everybody is out and walking around. Minor injuries. Route 33 is being closed.

UPDATE 8:13 p.m.: Two flatbed trucks requested for the tows.
