A 12-year-old Bergen girl who apparently rode her bike into traffic Tuesday night suffered non-life threatening injuries, according to the Sheriff's Office.

Jaclyn J. Stone, of South Lake Street, Bergen, was riding her bike at about 8:30 p.m. when she rode onto South Lake just as a car was coming.

The driver of the car, Cai Xiang Huang, was unable to stop in time.

No citations were issued.

The Sheriff's Office report indicates Stone was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital, but patient information at Strong doesn't show Stone being a patient at the hospital.

The Sheriff's Office report indicates Stone had a hip injury and was in shock following the accident.

Neither Huang or either passenger in his car were injured.

The accident was investigated by Deputy Timothy Wescott.

A 14-year-old boy was in a rollover tractor accident in Covington and the tractor is still on top of him. He's conscious.

He's behind a house at 7303 Morrow Road. "It's the house on top of the hill."

Mercy Flight is available. Pavilion Fire Department and Mercy medics are responding.

UPDATE 7:09 p.m.: Mercy Flight is called to the scene. The victim has been extricated.

Pavilion Fire Department and Mercy EMS are responding to a call in Covington after a car overturned and landed in a ravine. A 17-year-old is complaining of back pain.

The injury is said to be minor. The location is Silver Lake and Old State roads.

A three-car accident is reported at Broadway (Route 20) and Warner roads in Darien. Injuries are believed to be minor.

Darien Fire Department and Mercy EMS are responding.

Pavilion and Le Roy fire departments are responding to a serious injury accident on Old State Road in Covington.

Covington is part of the Pavilion Fire District.

There are two victims, and adult and a child. At least one victim was entrapped.

One Mercy Flight helicopter is in route.

There is an accident reported on the Thruway in the area of mile marker 404 with a possible ejection and possible car fire.

Pembroke and Indian Falls fire departments dispatched.

UPDATE 8:21 a.m.: Dispatch sorting out reports. Multiple calls. It's possible it was a car fire with a female occupant jumping out of the car. There is at least one report that she is walking and conscious and alert. Mercy Flight on ground stand by.

UPDATE 8:23 a.m.: There is a car fire and a person with a leg injury, according to dispatch. First responder, while driving up, noticed no smoke or fire. One person is sitting, talking to people.

UPDATE 8:31 a.m.: Woman jumped out of vehicle while smoke was coming from it and suffered a leg injury. Mercy Flight cancelled.

A car accident with injuries has been reported on Lewiston Road near the Thruway bridge.

A pole has been hit and wires are down.

Town of Batavia Fire and Mercy EMS responding.

UPDATE 8:10 a.m.: Oakfield fire police requested to Batavia Oakfield Townline Road to shut down traffic. Northbound traffic is also closed and a trooper will close traffic at Route 63 and Galloway Road.

A one-car accident is reported at Alva Place by JCPenney in the City of Batavia. The driver hit a curb and possibly a light pole and reportedly seems disoriented.

Medics on scene report the driver missed the driveway and hit the curb.

Firefighters are there, too.

UPDATE 3:20 p.m.: A light pole was not struck. Medics are back in service and firefighters are returning to quarters.

A one-car accident with possible minor injury has been reported in the area of 10056 East Road, Bethany.

A car has struck a utility pole and at least one person suffered minor injuries in an accident on Cacner Road, Bethany.

Bethany Fire Department is responding.

A driver was taken to ECMC with a complaint of neck pain yesterday following a one-car rollover accident at 4:54 p.m. on Route 77, Darien.

Nickol R. Burnett, 20, of Horseshoe Lake Road, Stafford, was cited for allegedly driving too fast for conditions.

Deputy Chris Parker, in his report, said the roads were slick with rain and Burnett lost control of her vehicle. Her 2004 Chevy sedan began to spin clockwise and traveled off the roadway and struck a culvert at the end of a driveway causing it to overturn.

A car reportedly struck a deer on Route 5 near Kelsey Road.

There are injuries reported.

East Pembroke Fire Department and Mercy EMS responding.

UPDATE 6:28 p.m.: One person was transported to UMMC by ground ambulance. Officials on scene said that a driver of another vehicle saw the deer, slowed down and the deer jumped over that car and landed on this minivan. No further information available at this time.

Though the sun shone on Bergen this morning, there was little joy in the tiny village of 1,200 people.

The community laid to rest one of its youngest members today, Eric. C. Wall, 16, who died Friday afternoon in a tragic and ultimately unexplainable accident

An overflow crowd filled the Methodist Church for an hour-long service.

After the service, Pastor Michael Merry spoke with reporters and said though it is a sad day, it's also a day of hope.

"I see hope in a community that has come together," Merry said. "I see hope that we can maybe find a way to prevent this kind of tragic death from happening again."

On Friday afternoon, at about 2:45, Eric was on his way home from school with two friends. When they got into the village, the three boys went their separate ways and Eric apparently decided to try and run across the train tracks. It's impossible to know what he saw or what he thought. There was a CSX train coming from the west and an Amtrak train coming from the east. Eric was first struck by the passenger train and then by the cargo train. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

"This has been very difficult for the community to cope with," Merry said. "Perhaps the most difficult part -- as you can just hear -- is the train whistle in the background. We have about 70 trains per day come through here. It's going to be hard to get that sound out of our heads. I think this is a day of healing, but as we hear that train go by, we will also remember."

Merry said Eric was memorialized during the service as a kid who made people laugh and stuck up for weaker, picked-on classmates, and would stand up for what he believed in.

"We will mourn his loss," Merry said. "He will be missed in all kinds of ways."

On Saturday, Eric's brother planted an apply tree in the little park near the train tracks. The tree was a gift from the community. At 9 a.m., Monday, the tree will be dedicated in a community service. Merry asked that the media let the community have a quiet, undisturbed ceremony.

A two-car accident has been reported in the area of 1431 Broadway Road, Darien.

Initially, one driver was trapped, but managed to get himself out.

No injuries are reported. Medics responding for evaluation of victims.

A 6-year-old child on South Main Street fell down a flight of stairs, about 15 feet, and was unconscious but breathing when Mercy EMS arrived.

With a storm coming, a Mercy ambulance is hurrying to the airport so that the child can be taken to a hospital by Mercy Flight before a storm hits the area.

There is a 10-minute window available.

The child was reportedly reviving during transport.

UPDATE 10:07 p.m.: Mercy Flight in route to Strong Memorial Hospital.

A one-vehicle rollover accident with no injuries has been reported in the area of 986 Bloomingdale Road, Basom.

The driver is reportedly out of the vehicle and walking around.

Alabama Fire Department dispatched.

UPDATE 7:43 a.m.: An assistant chief on scene reports that "he didn't roll it, he just went off the side of the road." No injuries. Alabama equipment held in the hall.

A car is off the road on the Thruway in the area of mile marker 396, which puts it about 8/10 of a mile east of the Slusser Road overpass.

A two-car motor accident with minor injuries is reported at 10705 Alexander Road in Alexander.

A 16-year-old Byron-Bergen High School student apparently tried to dash across train tracks on the north side of Lake Avenue on Friday afternoon and was struck by a westbound Amtrak train.

The youth was then hit by an eastbound CSX train.

Pronounced dead at the scene by Coroner Robert Yungfleish was Eric C. Wall, of Bergen.

Eric walked home from school with two friends Friday. At some point on Lake Avenue, Eric and his friends went their separate ways and Eric started running north, toward home. He went under a pedestrian gate at the train crossing even while warning bells were clanging, according to witnesses.

Deputy Chief Gordon Dibble said it's impossible to know what Eric's intentions were or if he was aware that not just one, but two trains were bearing down on the intersection.

One village resident said there has been a problem recently with the crossing gates going down and the bells ringing even though no train was coming.

Eric made it across one pair of tracks before being struck, Dibble said.

After he was struck, Eric's body was apparently thrown across Lake Avenue, landing on the south shoulder of the roadway near the train tracks.

The accident was reported at 2:47 p.m. By 3:15 p.m., dozens of students from Byron-Bergen were in the village, all seemingly aware of what had happened and who had been killed. Many students were in tears.

At least six school officials, a few wearing "crisis team" badges, were on scene.

Mayor Ralph Marsocci said he knew Eric. Like many Byron-Bergen students, Eric would stop into Ralph and Rosie's delicatessen after school for a slice of pizza.

"He was a wonderful kid, as most of them are," Marsocci said. "He was always very polite, always said 'thank you.'"

In a village of only 1,200 people, Eric's tragic death would be felt by the whole community, Marsocci said.

"People are devastated," Marsocci.

Friends of Eric's who spoke with the media said that Eric was fun to be around.

"He was really funny," Nicole Adams said. "He was like awkward funny. He would make stupid jokes, but everybody would laugh. Whoever was with him was always happy because he was always funny."

Her sister, Shauna, added, "I barely knew him and every time I talked to him he made me laugh."

The girls said they found out about the accident because a friend was on a school bus that was in the area and saw the whole thing and called them immediately.

Dibble said investigators gathered a number of statements from eyewitnesses. 

The investigation is ongoing.

UPDATE 6:30 p.m.: A student of Byron-Bergen High School was killed in the accident. His name has not yet been released. The youth was apparently headed northbound on the east side of North Lake Avenue when he decided to try crossing the tracks. There was an eastbound CSX training coming and a westbound Amtrak train. He was struck by the Amtrak train. There were several eyewitnesses to the accident, according to Deputy Chief Gordon Dibble. He said investigators are still determining the details and comparing statements. Dozens of Byron-Bergen students were on scene within minutes of the accident, many of them in tears. Students we spoke to described the youth as popular and fun to be around. The accident apparently happened right in front of a school bus with students on board. At least a half-dozen school officials were on scene, many of them wearing "crisis team" badges. We'll have a complete story later tonight. The roadway is just now being reopened.

UPDATE 6:45 p.m.: Also, grief counselors are at the school tonight starting at 7 p.m. for anyone in the community who needs to talk.
