A serious rollover accident is reported at 5751 Little Canada Road in Bethany. There is a person outside of a vehicle, unconscious.

Mercy Flight is en route and will land at the scene.

Bethany Fire Department and Mercy medics are responding. Stafford Fire Department is called to standby in its hall for possible mutual aid.

UPDATE 3:39 p.m.: Stafford is requested to the scene.

UPDATE 3:40 p.m.: A "second passenger" is reported to be out of the vehicle and walking around. Little Canada Road is being shut down to traffic at Fargo Road by fire police. Mercy Flight has been cancelled.

UPDATE 3:45 p.m.: Bethany fire has cancelled mutual aid from Stafford.

UPDATE 4:05 p.m.: The front-seat passenger suffered minor injuries and is being transported by Mercy medics to UMMC.

UPDATE 4:22 p.m.: All emergency personnel are released from the scene with the exception of fire police to control traffic.

UPDATE 6:24 p.m.: Little Canada Road has been reopened.

A landing zone for Mercy Flight has been set up in the parking lot of United Memorial Medical Center on North Street in the City of Batavia.

But first the flight crew out of Buffalo will need to pick up a special medical team from Children's Hospital, with an estimated arrival time of about 10 minutes.

We have no other details.

However, within the past hour, there was a call for medics to respond to a 6-year-old boy, not breathing. That location, we believe, is in the vicinity of Old State and Griswold roads and Route 33, Bergen. The boy was transported to UMMC and administered CPR along the way.

UPDATE 8:20 p.m.: Mercy Flight is on the ground.

City fire is being dispatched to Vine and North streets for a minor-injury accident.

Dispatch describes it as "very minor injuries," but there are fluids leaking and police on scene requested the fire department.

Mercy EMS responding non-emergency.

A motor-vehicle accident with injuries is reported at Route 20 and South Street Road in Pavilion.

Pavilion Fire Department, Mercy medics and Le Roy Ambulance are responding. Mercy Flight is on standby.

UPDATE 4:17 p.m.: There are two vehicles involved and two injuries reported. Mercy Flight is canceled.

UPDATE 4:19 p.m.: The two drivers are women who appear to have sustained superficial injuries.

UPDATE 4:30 p.m.: A third ambulance is called to the scene in nonemergency mode. No reason given.

A 17-year-old was seriously injured in an accident on Bethany Center Road, Bethany, at 2:09 p.m., Friday, after the driver of a truck apparently pulled onto the roadway off Cacner and struck the car the youth was in.

The car continued southbound, striking a mailbox, going off the left shoulder of the road.

Karl R. Kennedy, no address given, was flown by Mercy Flight to Strong Memorial Hospital where he is listed in guarded condition this morning (at Strong, any patient in the intensive care unit is listed as "guarded").

Kennedy was unconscious following the accident, according to the Sheriff's Office accident report. He suffered a head injury and was bleeding severely.

Charges are pending against the truck driver, said Deputy Bradley D. Mazur in his report.

The driver is identified as Dean W. Knauss, 53, of 9931 Bethany Center Road, East Bethany. He was driving a 1995 truck owned by a local dairy farm.

The car Kennedy was in was a 1998 Ford sedan driven by Michaela E. Baudanza, 17, of 7303 Morrow Road, Pavilion.  

Baudanza suffered minor injuries. Knauss was uninjured.

A motor-vehicle accident with possibly serious injuries is reported in Bethany at 10330 Bethany Center Road near Cacner Road.

Mercy Flight is airborne and heading to the location. The helicopter is to land right at the scene, in a field south-southeast of the accident.

Bethany Fire Department and Mercy medics are called to respond.

UPDATE 2:55 p.m.: Mercy Flight is airborne and headed to Strong Memorial Hospital. Another victim was taken to UMMC via ambulance.

A person has suffered minor injuries, but is trapped in his car after a rollover accident on the Thruway in the area of mile marker 388, westbound lane.

The driver conscious and alert and talking with emergency dispatch.

He is injured and unable to get out of the car.

Town of Batavia Fire Department and Mercy EMS dispatched.

UPDATE 11:58 p.m.: The vehicle is on its wheels. "We will need to have the door popped," a Mercy medic informs a Batavia chief.

A tractor-trailer rollover accident is reported in the eastbound lane -- on-ramp 47 -- of the Thruway. The driver is conscious and talking but is possibly entrapped. Mercy Flight is on standby.

Le Roy Fire and Ambulance are responding and a crew from Bergen Fire Department is requested to standby in their quarters.

The rig is leaking fuel. It is on its side and the on-ramp is blocked.

UPDATE 12:51 p.m.: Medics are told to proceed in nonemergency mode. The rig is loaded with scrap metal.

UPDATE 12:55 p.m.: Mercy Flight is cancelled. Traffic is backing up. The driver has been extricated.

UPDATE 1:08 p.m.: State Police have completely shut down the eastbound on-ramp and it is expected to remain closed for some time. The Bergen crew, which was standing by in quarters, is put back in service. Le Roy medic is taking the victim to Strong Memorial Hospital. Le Roy fire is released from the scene by State Police.

A driver involved in a fatal car accident on West Main St. Road, Batavia, on Feb.  8 has received two traffic citations and been charged with reckless driving.

Levert Kimble, 21, of 3456 West Main St. Road, Batavia, who was also seriously injured in the head-on collection with an SUV, was cited for failure to keep right and not wearing a seat belt.

Delores Opuku-Boateng, 19, a student at Genesee Community College and a passenger in Kimble's car, died at the scene of the accident.

The other driver, Justin J. Jaszko, 31, suffered only minor injuries.

According to investigators at the time, the accident occurred at 9:02 a.m. when Kimble apparently lost control of his eastbound Honda and crossed over the center of the road, striking Jaszko's westbound 1995 Chevy Suburban.

A two-car accident with a minor injury has been reported at the intersection of Walker Road and South Street Road, Pavilion.

A responder requested that Monroe County Water Authority be notified that a fire hydrant was struck.

A two-car accident has been reported on Route 77 near McGregor Road, Darien.

Darien Fire Department and ambulance responding.

UPDATE 7:34 p.m.: Chief on scene reports one car blocking, another in a ditch. Corfu fire police being dispatched to block southbound traffic. A Sheriff's deputy will close the northbound lane. An ALS ambulance from Mercy EMS requested. There are three people injured.

UPDATE 8:20 p.m.: The victims have all been transported via ambulance to Erie County Medical Center.

UPDATE 8:32 p.m.: Corfu is told it can open Route 77 to traffic. Darien fire and Mercy medics are now responding to another accident on Route 20, just east of the county line.

UPDATE 8:42 p.m.: Mercy medics are cancelled. The Route 20 incident involves two cars.

UPDATE 8:51 p.m.: Darien fire is back in service following the accident on Route 20.

UPDATED at 4:09 p.m. with information from State Police.

UPDATE 5:11 p.m.: Traffic now open in both directions.

Three cars and a truck hauling fuel oil were involved in an accident this morning on Route 33 at West Bergen Road.

The truck over turned and landed on a car, trapping a woman in the vehicle. By all accounts, the woman -- Rosalie Pacino, of Batavia -- was conscious and alert throughout the ordeal, though she was airlifted to Strong Memorial Hospital by Mercy Flight.

Initially, the fuel oil was described as a flowing freely from a broken spigot, but Bergen First Assistant Chief Jim Bridge described the fuel spill as only minor.

A hazmat unit was brought in to clean up the spill.

State Police investigators say that Robin F. Lewis, of Bergen, was stopped at the northbound stop sign on West Bergen Road. Mark Shaw, of Warsaw, was driving a 2006 KenWorth tractor-trailer westbound on Route 33. A 2006 Ford entered the intersection, attempted to make a left-hand turn and was struck by the truck.

The Ford then spun and struck a 2001 Ford driving by Audrey Waterman, of Bergen, which was stopped on Route 33 waiting to make a left-hand turn. The truck continued westbound, slid counter clockwise and struck a 2005 Subaru, driven by Pacino. Pacino was headed eastbound on 33. The truck rolled into a ditch trapping Pacino's car under the trailer.

Charges are pending.

Brandy Shot, of Bergen, witnessed the accident. She was driving on Route 33, heading to work in Batavia, two cars behind the accident and witnessed the entire incident.

She said a van with two girls in it was preparing to make a left hand turn on West Bergen Road and another car was making a left hand turn onto Route 33. The truck, westbound on Route 33, tried to slow and avoid the car, but hit it, spinning the car around 360 degrees. It struck the van with the two girls in it.

"When I saw those girls in the van, my heart just sank, because I'm a mother of two," Shot said. "I'm just so glad they were not even hurt at all."

The driver lost control of the truck. It jackknifed and overturned, landing on a passenger vehicle, pushing it off the road, Shot said.

When the driver got out of the truck, he found the car under his truck and told Shot that the woman in the car was conscious and alert and talking on her mobile phone.

The truck driver, according to Shot, suffered head lacerations.

The driver of the car that the truck initially hit was bleeding from her face, according to Shot.

Bridge said besides the woman airlifted by Mercy Flight, two people were transported to hospitals by ground ambulance.

Bergen Fire responded initially to the scene and units from Byron and South Byron were soon called for mutual aid. Also responding for mutual aid were Le Roy, Town of Batavia and Churchville. Pavilion responded to standby in Le Roy's hall. Genesee County Emergency Services, deputies from the Sheriff's Office as well as Mercy EMS and Bergen Ambulance were all on scene.

The accident is being investigated by Troop A of the State Police.

The scene is being cleared. The Bergen fire chief tell those remaining on scene, to "abandon their posts" because the State Police and the DEC are going to remove signs and barriers when that time comes. Jim's Service is still there.

A gas-hauling tractor-trailer and multiple vehicles have been involved in an accident on Route 33 at West Bergen Road, according to scanner reports.

A dispatch says "we believe at least three or four vehicles involved."

There are no specifics on injuries, but two ambulances have been started and Mercy Flight is on standby.

Bergen Fire Department is responding as well as multiple law enforcement units. Byron and South Byron fire asked to respond mutual aid.

The tractor-trailer has rolled with a vehicle pinned underneath.

There is fluid leaking. It's unknown if the fluid is from the tanker or side tanks.

UPDATE 7:57 a.m.: Both directions of traffic on Route 33 are shut to traffic, from West Bergen and Lyman roads. State Police have taken command of the scene. A county Hazmat team is to report to the training center on Bank St. Road in Batavia to gather equipment to go to the scene. The tractor-trailer is leaking fuel "at a pretty good rate." The triage center for victims is going to be south of the West Bergen Road/Route 33 intersection. A tanker from Churchville is called along with LeRoy. All "civilians" are going to be "removed from the scene." One victim, who is conscious and alert, is trapped in the vehicle under the truck. Extrication will be needed.

UPDATE 8:07 a.m.: Town of Batavia rescue unit is called along with Jim's Service to lift the truck so the victim can be extricated. Mercy Flight will be landing at the intersection. The leak "appears to be contained at this point."

UPDATE 8:10 a.m.: Fire police will be stationed at Griswold Road and Route 33. Stafford Fire Department is called to the scene. The tractor-trailer was hauling 9,500 gallons of fuel oil.

UPDATE 8:25 a.m.: The section of Route 33 closed to traffic has been extended from Griswold to Dublin roads.

UPDATE 8:37 a.m.: Pavilion firefighters are asked to stand in at Le Roy's fire hall.

UPDATE 8:49 a.m.: The county Highway Department in Stafford is called to the scene to provide a load of sand to absorb fuel oil in a ditch.

UPDATE 8:52 a.m.: The state has jursidiction of Route 33, so the county Highway Department may not be able to provide the sand. But officials will try to override that since this is an emergency situation. Otherwise, a state highway truck will need to be called in.

UPDATE 8:57 a.m.: A fire chief on scene says the fuel leak has been stopped and berms are in place to contain it. A state Department of Transportation truck is en route to the scene with sand. The victims trapped under the truck has been extricated.

UPDATE 9:16 a.m.: A representative from the state Department of Environmental Conservation is en route and asked about about the fuel spill and was told "There is an unknown, large amount in a ditch area."

A minor-injury accident has been reported on West Main Street in front of Burger King.

A motor-vehicle accident, thought to be a head-on collision, has occurred on Pekin Road, Elba, in the area of the curve. There is one person trapped inside. The front passenger has a head injury and is conscious.

A responder on scene says the injuries are minor.

Elba Fire Department and Mercy EMS are responding.

UPDATE 12:22 p.m.: Fire police are requested to shut down traffic on Pekin Road.

UPDATE 12:49: Mercy medics are en route to UMMC. Elba fire units are back in service. Tow trucks are called in. The road has reopened.

A two-car accident with injuries has been reported on Route 63 at Starr Road, Pavilion.

Pavilion Fire and Mercy EMS dispatched.

UPDATE 10:10 a.m.: A Pavilion firefighter on scene: "Slow everybody down, non-emergency. It's going to be a sign-off" (meaning very minor injuries, no ambulance transport).

A two-car motor-vehicle accident is reported in front of 596 East Main St. in the City of Batavia. Injuries are believed to be minor. It is blocking traffic.

Traffic is being rerouted.

UPDATE 1:40 p.m.: One minor injury is reported. Medics told to respond non-emergency mode. The roadway is reopened and traffic is being directed.

A motor-vehicle accident with injuries has been reported at Main and Clay streets in the Village of Le Roy.

No word on the seriousness of the injuries.

Le Roy Fire Department and law enforcement are on scene. Mercy EMS responding.

UPDATE 11:41 a.m: Accident has been cleared. Roadway reopened.

Also, Darien Fire Department is working a minor injury accident on Countyline Road.

Charges may be pending following a one-car accident at 10:38 p.m. Saturday, on North Street Road, Le Roy.

The driver has been identified as Philip M. Niccloy, 24, of 75 Summit St., Le Roy.

According to initial reports, the car Niccloy was allegedly driving, was found unoccupied at the accident scene and several law enforcement officers were involved in a search for the driver.

The Sheriff's Office accident report does not include information on how Niccloy was identified as the driver nor how he was found, though on Saturday night, the owner of the vehicle, also a Summit Street resident, said she wanted charges pressed against the driver.

The vehicle involved was a 2010 GMC pickup.

The truck hit a tree at the bend of the road in the area of 8471 North Street Road. The driver-side airbag was deployed.

The accident is being investigated by Deputy Matthew Butler wrote on his report that the investigation is ongoing and there are "charges pending."

A car has gone off the road and hit a tree in the area of 8481 North St. Road, Le Roy.

Le Roy fire and ambulance dispatched.

A first responder says there has been air bag deployment, but she says, "I haven't located the driver yet."

A deputy reports that the driver has apparently left the scene.

UPDATE 11:02 p.m.: The registered owner has been located and wishes to press charges against the driver. Police seem to have some idea who the driver is and are searching for him.

UPDATE 11:16 p.m.: The suspect has not been located yet. He is likely on foot and may be within the village boundaries.
