Minor head injuries reported in accident on Thruway

A motor-vehicle accident with minor head injuries is reported on the Thruway, in the westbound lane at mile marker 395.7.

That's about a mile east of the Slusser Road overpass.

Volunteer firefighter killed in crash in Oakfield

Investigators have yet to determine the cause of the accident that claimed the life of a volunteer firefighter on Fisher Road, Oakfield, at 8:04 p.m., Tuesday.

David Beehler Jr., 37, of 3514 Maltby Road, Oakfield, was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The accident was reported as a single-vehicle crash. Beehler was driving a 2009 Dodge Ram pickup truck, which hit a tree and a utility pole. He was the sole occupant and was ejected.

Assisting at the scene was the Oakfield and Elba fire departments, Mercy EMS, the Crash Management Team and State Police.

One-vehicle rollover reported on Bethany Center Road

A one-car rollover accident is reported at 9662 Bethany Center Road. The car landed on its roof, but the driver is safely out. Bethany Fire Department and Mercy medic #2 are responding.

Two people injured in accident in Alabama on Thursday evening

The drivers of both cars involved in an accident at Route 77 and Judge Road at 5:57 p.m., Thursday, were transported to ECMC with injuries, according to a Sheriff's Office accident report.

Both were conscious and alert at the time of transport, according to the report.

Tarah N. Mruczek, 29, of Ackerson Road, Basom, was westbound on Judge Road and James A. Hitt, 69, of Portage Road, Medina, was northbound on Route 77 when Mruczek allegedly failed to stop at the stop sign. 

Hitt's vehicle was knocked into a utility pole as a result of the collision.

If citations were issued, they are not listed on the report.

An accident has been reported at Judge Road and Route 77, Alabama.

Two vehicles are involved.

It's believed to be minor injuries.

Alabama fire and Mercy EMS dispatched.

UPDATE 6:13 p.m.: A landing zone has been set up for Mercy Flight.

Serious injury accident reported in Pavilion

A motor-vehicle accident with a serious injury is reported at 7372 York Road, Pavilion.

A Pavilion chief is on location. He's asking about the status of Mercy Flight.

He's reporting heavy entrapment.

Pavilion fire is dispatched.

Mutual aid from Le Roy requested.

UPDATE 12:10 a.m.: A landing zone for Mercy Flight is being established.

UPDATE 2:45 a.m.: The driver was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital by Mercy Flight. He was conscious and alert during and after an 18-minute extrication. The cause of the accident remains under investigation. Charges are possible. The name of the driver has not yet been released. The vehicle was eastbound on York Road. The driver's girlfriend was following at some distance. She lost sight of the vehicle and found it off the road about the same time residents near the crash, which included a Pavilion chief, found the accident. The truck struck and sheared off at least two trees. The vehicle was heavily damaged.

UPDATE: The driver is identified as Taylor J. Scaccia, 22, of Perry. Charges are pending. He was driving a 2008 Nissan pickup.

Accident at Park Road and Oak Street snarls traffic every which-a-way

An accident at Park Road and Oak Street has traffic backed up in every direction, including Thruway motorists trying to exit nearby. Town of Batavia and city fire crews are on scene along Mercy medics.

UPDATE 5:25 p.m.: The accident scene is nearly clear. A car coming off the Thruway turned onto Park Road and went straight. A car making a left turn from Oak Street onto Park Road struck the other vehicle. Both vehicles had air-bag deployment and both drivers were transported to UMMC for evaluation.

Driver of car cited following accident involving school bus

One vehicle's alleged failure to yield to another led to a three-vehicle collision that included a school bus yesterday afternoon at the intersection of R. Stephen Hawley Drive and Med Tech Drive.

One person suffered a minor injury and was transported to an area hospital.

Cited was Tasha L. Wiltberger, 25, of Buell Street, Batavia. She was also the person injured in the crash.

Wiltberger reportedly stopped at a stop sign facing north from Med Tech Drive while a car driven by Joshua E. McKinsey, 23, of Prestige Crossing, Batavia, was on Hawley Drive.

Wittberger allegedly pulled out in front of McKinsey's vehicle. The two vehicles collided and McKinsey's vehicle then struck a school bus that was stopped at the stop sign on College Road.  

There were a bus driver and eight students, ages 15 to 18, on the school bus.

The accident was reported at 1:06 p.m.

The accident was investigated by Deputy Rachel Diehl.

Accident reported on Indian Falls Road

A motor-vehicle accident is reported at 1770 Indian Falls Road.

UPDATE 7:51 a.m.: This was originally reported as minor injury, but a crew is requested to assemble to set up a possible landing zone for Mercy Flight.

Car vs. pedestrian accident reported in Village of Elba, patient is conscious

A car vs. pedestrian accident is reported at 11 S. Main St. in the Village of Elba, just north of Maple Avenue. The patient is conscious. The caller reports a possible diabetic issue is involved and indicates of the the parties involved may be trying to leave the scene.

Elba Fire Department and Mercy medic #2 are responding.

Car vs. pole accident, unknown injuries, at Lyman and Clinton Street roads, Bergen

A car vs. pole accident with unknown injuries is reported at Lyman Road and Clinton Street Road, Bergen. The pole and some wires are down. Bergen Fire Department and Mercy medics are responding.

UPDATE 2:15 p.m.: The driver is out of the vehicle and does not appear to be injured, according to a first responder on scene.

Two-car crash, unknown injuries, reported at Gilmore and Akron roads, Pembroke

A two-car accident with unknown injuries is reported at the intersection of Gilmore and Akron roads. Pembroke and Indian Falls fire department are dispatched along with Mercy medics.

UPDATE 7:29 p.m.: Command reports there are no injuries and tells responding units to remain in quarters.

Car vs. horse accident with injuries reported on Main Road, Stafford

A car vs. horse accident with injuries is reported at 6684 Main Road in Stafford. Stafford Fire Department and Mercy medics are responding. The accident is blocking the roadway.

UPDATE 10:41 p.m.: The female driver of a compact sedan suffered cuts and other minor injuries after striking a horse that ran into the roadway from the south shoulder as she was headed eastbound on Route 5. She said it was dark and she didn't see the animal and had little time to react. The horse was killed upon impact. The driver was transported to a hospital for evaluation.
