Possible lightning strike sparks smoke inside a house on Ridge Road, East Pembroke

Smoke in the residence is reported at 9430 Ridge Road, East Pembroke. East Pembroke Fire Department is responding and mutual aid from Darien and Corfu is requested.

The cause is a possible lightning strike at the residence. A first responder reports debris in the roadway and advises responders to approach with caution. Code enforcement is requested; there appears to be electrical damage inside the residence.

UPDATE 2:46 a.m.: A thermal camera will be used to try and detect heat in the walls.

UPDATE 2:59 a.m.: The code enforcement officer has a 30-minute ETA.

UPDATE 3:13 a.m.: Corfu is back in service.

Possible fire in wall of residence on Judge Road, Alabama

A possible house fire is reported at 1749 Judge Road, Alabama.

The homeowner reports a fire in the wall.

Alabama fire along with East Pembroke dispatched.

UPDATE 1:26 p.m.: All units can respond non-emergency. Alabama command believes the fire is knocked down.

Quick response knocks down structure fire on Peachy Road, Bergen

A structure fire was reported at 8524 Peachy Road, Bergen, but a chief on scene reports the fire has been knocked down.

Overhaul and ventilation starting.

The initial fire call was for a dryer with smoke coming from it.

Bergen fire and Le Roy fire were dispatched.

Fire reported inside Dollar General store in Oakfield

A fire is reported inside the Dollar General store in Oakfield. Flames are showing, coming from an electrical box. There is smoke in the building also. The store, at 111 N. Main St., has been evacuated. Oakfield Fire Department is responding along with mutual aid from Alabama Fire Department.

UPDATE 9:08 p.m.: Oakfield command on scene says responding units can come in non-emergency mode.

UPDATE 9:09 p.m.: Command asks Alabama to go back in service.

Bedroom fire reported on Spruce Street in the city

A bedroom fire is reported at 20 N. Spruce St. Residents advised to evacuate. It's gone to a second alarm. City fire is responding, including all off-duty firefighters, along with mutual aid from Alexander's Fast Team and a tanker from Elba. Town of Batavia is asked to stand by in their quarters. Two Mercy medic units also called to the scene.

UPDATE 8:41 p.m.: All residents accounted for. A firefighter may have been injured. He may have suffered heat exhaustion or dehydration.  

UPDATE 8:50 p.m.: A cat is missing.

Kitchen fire reported at Corfu Meadows Apartments

A kitchen fire is reported at the Corfu Meadows Apartments, 53 W. Main St., Corfu.

One person may have suffered smoke inhalation.

Corfu fire dispatched.

Darien, East Pembroke, and Pembroke fire departments also requested to the city. City Fast Team called to the scene. The city's 1st plattoon asked to fill in at the city Fire Hall.

UPDATE 9:47 p.m.: Fire knocked down.

Possible residential structure fire reported on Angling Road, Corfu

A possible residential structure fire is reported at 2317 Angling Road, Corfu. East Pembroke fire is responding along with mutual aid from Town of Batavia and Corfu fire departments. The location is between West Avenue and North Angling Road.

UPDATE 5:31 p.m.: Photos and info from Alecia Kaus/Video News Service: The homeowner was attempting to smoke out bees and his house caught on fire. It got into the attic; a quick response by volunteer firefighters kept the fire from spreading.

House in Darien struck by lightning, filling with smoke

Multiple fire companies have been dispatched to 9792 Ridge Road, Darien, for a house struck by lightning with smoke reported in the residence.

Darian fire was initially dispatched.

Mutual aid requested from Alexander, Town of Batavia, Corfu, East Pembroke, Indian Falls, and City Fire.

UPDATE 11:23 p.m.: City's fourth platoon requested to the station. Emergency management requested to the scene.

Possible garage fire reported on Prospect Avenue in the city

Smoke is reportedly coming from the garage at 8 Prospect Ave. in the city. City fire is responding.

UPDATE 5:06 p.m.: The address is approximate -- either 8 or 10 Prospect -- the house is yellow with a flagpole out front; caller is from adjacent street (Ellicott Avenue).

UPDATE 5:08 p.m.: Fire command says may be a grill fire in back of 4 Prospect.

UPDATE 5:10 p.m.: It's a grill that's smoking due to food cooking; fireman is going to caller's house to speak about the fire concern.

UPDATE 5:21 p.m.: The assignment is returning to service.

A truck fire at Z&M Ag and Turf in Oakfield this morning caused quite a bit of smoke. Lori Forsyth, who provided the picture, said it inundated her house on Batavia Elba Townline Road. The fire was reported at about 9:15 a.m. and Oakfield fire responded. The fire was out quickly.

House fire reported on Hundredmark Road, Elba

A house fire is reported in Elba at 4827 Hundredmark Road. The structure is roughly 30 feet by 30 feet in dimension. It is near Spoil Bank Road. Mercy medics and Elba Fire Department are responding, along with mutual aid from Town of Batavia, Bergen, South Byron, Oakfield and Stafford.

UPDATE 1:15 a.m.: Attacking hot spots; mutual aid responders can return to service.

Report of house fire on McKinley Avenue

A fire with flames showing is reported at 3 McKinley Ave., Batavia.

The fire is reportedly in the bathroom.

City fire responding.

UPDATE 9:24 p.m.: Fourth Platoon requested to headquarters.

UPDATE 9:34 a.m.: Command reports "the situation is under control; beginning overhaul."

UPDATE 10:30 a.m.: City fire's response time was under two minutes and Chief Steve Napolitano said the city crew's fast, aggressive action saved the house. “The guys put a good knock on the fire and confined it to the room of origin," he said. A grandfather and two grandchildren were home at the time the fire was discovered. They safely evacuated before fire crews arrived. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Unknown type fire reported at Barbary Coast Mobile Home Park, Bergen

An unknown type of fire is reported behind a residence in the Barbary Coast Mobile Home Park, located at 7862 Clinton Street Road. Byron and South Byron fire departments are called to respond, mutual aid to the Bergen call.

UPDATE 1:37 p.m.: The Bergen chief on scene says South Byron can stand down; the other unit can continue in non-emergency mode.

UPDATE 1:39 p.m.: The chief puts the assignment back in service.

Mulch fire reported on Pearl Street Road, Batavia

A mulch fire is reported at Summit Lubricants, 4080 Pearl Street Road, Batavia. Town of Batavia Fire Department is responding.

UPDATE 1:08 p.m.: Fire chief on scene says responders can proceed in non-emergency mode.

Barn fire reported in Le Roy at Quinlan and West Bergen roads

A barn fire is reported Quinlan and West Bergen roads in Le Roy. It's gone to a second alarm. Smoke is showing. The city, Stafford and Pavilion are called as mutual aid to Le Roy Fire Department.

UPDATE 1:46 p.m.: "We do have a working fire with exposures," says a first responder on scene.

UPDATE 2:05 p.m.: Le Roy command puts Stafford back in service; Mumford, which was responding, was also told to go back in service. Caledonia is responding.

UPDATE 2:13 p.m.: "Fire knocked down. Doing overhaul."

UPDATE 2:23 p.m.: Fire is out.

UPDATE 2:30 p.m.: The fire was caused by a lawn mower which caught fire after being used.
