Local deputies will soon be equipped with Tasers courtesy a federal grant to help law enforcement agencies buy the non-lethal weapons.
The County Legislature approved an application for a $23,000 grant last night than will enable the Sheriff's Office to purchase 28 guns.
Under-Sheriff Bill Sheron spoke with WBTA about the taser purchase (audio).
The department currently owns no tasers.
They have been using cattle
They have been using cattle prods for thirty years and now they need fancy pants Tasers? If a cattle prod and a nightstick can't subdue someone then you are justified in putting a bullet in the cheek of their ass. You don't have to kill them and you don't need every new toy that comes along. Does Batavia have a Bike Patrol? Do they have a Horse Patrol? Do they own any Segways? Sheesh.
Hey, if they really have to
Hey, if they really have to have them I think I could get them 30 guns and each one comes with a free Ipod with 50 free song downloads and a 90 day warranty, for only $22,650. Think about it and let me know.
