The woman who died in an accident on Meadville Road yesterday has been identified as Nituna L. Stafford, 40, of Basom.
She was pronounced dead at the scene by County Coroner Barry Miller.
The other person in the vehicle was Eli M. Smoke, 26, of Alabama. Smoke was injured and treated at ECMC for leg and chest pain.
State police say the vehicle they were in failed to stop at the end of Meadville Road and struck and continued through concrete barriers before stopping.
Stafford was the driver.
The investigation is ongoing, but is not considered a weather-related event.
A person died in an accident that occurred on Meadville Road, Alabama, some time over night.
The circumstances of the accident remain under investigation, but neither the accident nor the death were weather related, according to Victor Morales, public information officer for Troop A, State Police.
The name of the deceased has not been released yet, pending family notifications.

One vehicle is reported to be way off the road and there may be injuries in the area of mile marker 2.8 Route 490 eastbound. Le Roy fire and Mercy medics are on scene. The location is between the Le Roy and Bergen exits. Law enforcement is also on scene.
A motor-vehicle accident with minor injuries is reported at Route 19 and Griswold Road. Le Roy fire and ambulance responding. Fire police are told to shut down traffic on Lake Road.

A 23-year-old Elba man was taken into custody this afternoon following a pair of traffic collisions and a bit of a police pursuit from Bank Street to Main Street in front of Tim Horton's.
Joseph J. Zambito has been charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs, according to Sgt. Dan Coffey, Batavia PD.
Sometime around 2:30 p.m. police received a report of a vehicle striking a car on Bank Street just within city limits. The vehicle was spotted on Bank Street, Coffey said, and officers attempted to make a traffic stop, but the car continued, turning right onto Main Street.
The vehicle struck another car west of Jefferson Avenue, Coffey said, and then patrol vehicles were able to box in the silver sedan and stop it in front of Tim Horton's.
Following a short investigation, the driver was taken into custody.
Zambito is also being charged with several traffic violations, Coffey said.

A car vs. motorized scooter accident, with injuries, is reported in the Walgreen's parking lot in Le Roy. The address is 8 W. Main St. Le Roy medics are on scene and firefighters are responding.
A one-vehicle rollover accident is reported at 9867 Transit Road. It's at the intersection with East Bethany-Le Roy Road. Minor injuries. Pavilion Fire Department and Mercy medics are responding.

A tractor-trailer struck a pole, tore down wires and landed on its side in the front yard at 258 Main Road, Pembroke. Unknown injuries. Pembroke and Indian Falls fire departments are responding along with Mercy medics, non-emergency. Eastbound traffic will be shut down at Crittenden Road.
UPDATE 6:40 a.m.: National Grid has dispatched a repair crew, which has an ETA of about 30 minutes. Law enforcement is at the scene, too.
UPDATE 6:49 a.m.: An engine from Akron Fire Department is called in to provide mutual aid.

UPDATE 7:53 a.m.: A second ambulance requested after a vehicle may have struck the fire truck -- or close to it, hitting a guard rail instead. Darien fire's ambulance requested to the scene.
UPDATE 7:57 a.m.: "They hit the guard rail pretty good," reports a chief, but everybody is out of the car and injuries, if any, appear minor. The chief also reports "this is not good," cars are slowing down, but still sliding around.
UPDATE 8:02 a.m.: Pembroke and Indian Falls requested to assemble in quarters.
UPDATE 8:06 a.m.: The East Pembroke chief informs the Pembroke chief that their crews are needed for traffic control in the eastbound lane. Another chief informs Darien's ambulance that it can go back in service. Mercy EMS can handle the signoffs on the second accident.
UPDATE 8:12 a.m.: A Pembroke chief reports icy conditions, at least two cars into guard rails. Dispatch says the Thruway Authority has a salt truck in route.
UPDATE 8:15 a.m.: There's a non-injury accident on the Route 98 overpass. A dispatcher notes, "Apparently the bridges in this county are iced over. It's Nov. 2 and the bridges are iced over."
UPDATE 8:18 a.m.: An East Pembroke chief is requesting crews completely shutdown the eastband lanes.
UPDATE 8:29 a.m.: A second accident in East Pembroke's district, on Route 5 near Wortendyke Road. The East Pembroke chief requests a dispatch for Town of Batavia while he tries to free up a unit to head that way. The dispatcher warns Town of Batavia that the road is icy. There are very minor injuries in the accident.
A car and semi-truck have collided on the Thruway in the westbound lane near mile marker 386.6
That's about two-tenths of a mile east of the Bank Street Road overpass.

A motor-vehicle accident is reported at 8572 Lake Street Road. A person may have a broken foot, according to dispatch. Le Roy fire and ambulance are responding.
UPDATE 4:23 a.m.: Mercy medics are asked to respond, mutual aid, to the accident. The location is between Randall and Red Mill roads.
UPDATE 4:44 a.m.: Le Roy ambulance is transporting one patient to Strong Memorial Hospital. Mercy medics #2 are taking a patient to Warsaw Community Hospital. A fire hydrant was damaged as a result of the accident and Monroe County Water Authority is being notified.
A two-car accident is blocking westbound traffic on Ellicott Street at Jackson. Injuries are believed to be minor. There is one person possibly entrapped. City fire and Mercy medics are scene.

Injuries are reported after a car hit a tree in the area of 954 Main Road, Pembroke.
Only one vehicle is involved in the accident.
