Car reportedly hits tree on South Main Street Road, Batavia

A car has reportedly hit a tree and there are unknown injuries at 3992 South Main Street Road, near Fairway Drive, Batavia.

Town of Batavia Fire and Alexander Fire's ambulance dispatched.

UPDATE 6:11 a.m.: Law enforcement on scene reports no injuries. Alexander's ambulance is cancelled. Town of Batavia can hold all equipment in hall.

Eastbound Route 5 in Le Roy reportedly blocked by truck accident

A reader who witnessed the accident reports a westbound tractor-trailer has jackknifed on Route 5 near Bater Road, Le Roy.

The truck hit a pole and the eastbound lane is blocked.

A trooper just arrived on scene.

UPDATE 5:58 a.m.: Le Roy fire requested to shut down traffic westbound on Route 5 at Keeney Road. Stafford fire requested to shut down traffic eastbound at Buckley Road.

UPDATE 6:44 a.m.: Traffic is reopened. Stafford and Le Roy back in service.

Accident at Judge Road and Macomber Road, Oakfield

A motor-vehicle accident is reported near Judge Road and Macomber Road, Oakfield.

A medic on scene reports two minor injuries and one person trapped. A second ambulance is requested to the scene.

Oakfield fire and Mercy EMS dispatched.

UPDATE 5:40 a.m.: Alabama fire requested to the scene for traffic control.

UPDATE 5:44 a.m.: A second ambulance might not be needed. Two minor injuries. "We might be able to double stack one rig," a responder tells dispatch.

Car hits tree, driver trapped inside on Town Line Road, Bergen

A car versus tree accident is reported in the area of 7893 Town Line Road, just west of Buffalo Street, Bergen. The driver is trapped inside and possibly has a head injury. Bergen fire and Mercy medics are responding.

Corfu man killed in hit-and-run in Newstead

The man killed in a hit-and-run accident in Newstead has been identified, and he's from Corfu.

The victim was 38-year-old Francis A. Meldrum Jr., according the the Erie County Sheriff's Office.

A passerby reportedly found Meldrum's body in the roadway along Indian Falls Road shortly after midnight.

Authorities believe either an SUV or truck hit Meldrum, but are not ruling out a passenger car. There were apparently no witnesses and no physical evidence to help identify the vehicle was found at the scene.

The Erie County Sheriff's Office is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the driver whose vehicle hit Meldrum.

Crash on an icy Route 20, Pavilion, yesterday, claims life of Erie County resident

An Erie County man who apparently lost control of his vehicle on an icy Route 20 in Pavilion yesterday died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash.

Christopher J. Hartnett, 44, of Woodward Drive, West Seneca, was driving his 2007 Dodge minivan eastbound when the vehicle slid off the road and struck a tree.

The accident was reported at 4:48 p.m. on Route 20 near South Street Road.

He was extricated from the van by volunteer firefighters and transported by Mercy EMS to an area hospital, where he died upon arrival.

Two passengers, Andrew Hartnett, 14, of West Seneca, and Jonah Cross, 10, of Amherst, were both injured. Andrew Suffered a head injury and some lacerations and was taken to Strong, where he's listed in stable condition. Jonah suffered minor injuries and was transported to Strong for a precautionary evaluation.

A dog in the vehicle appeared to be unharmed and was taken to the animal shelter until family members could pick him up.

Pavilion and Le Roy fire departments responded to the scene.

Trooper Steve Brady assisted the Sheriff's Office at the scene.

The accident is being investigation being conducted by Deputy Chad Minuto along with Crash Management Team members Sgt. Eric Seppala and Deputy James Diehl.

Rollover accident reported on Route 20, Pavilion

A one-car rollover accident is reported in the area of 7365 Telephone Road, Pavilion.

Injuries are reported.

Roads are icy.

Rollover accident reported on Townline Road, Bergen

One person is trapped in a car following a one-vehicle rollover accident in the area of 7394 Townline Road, Bergen.

Unknown injuries.

Bergen fire and Byron ambulance responding.

UPDATE 3:45 p.m.: Byron is transporting one to the hospital and Bergen fire is back in service.

 

Difficult travel conditions reported in Alabama

Authorities in Alabama are requesting a travel advisory because of near zero visibility. 

Alabama fire is on scene of a single-car accident at Route 63 and Route 77 with wires down. A wire is on a vehicle.  No injuries are reported.

Traffic is being closed at Ledge Road and 77.

It sounds like there are other property damage accidents in the area.

There is an accident, perhaps Route 63 and 77, with seven people in the vehicle. No injuries.

Mercy EMS is responding to Route 63 and 77 because of the wire on the car.

Traffic is being closed at Phelps Road by Pembroke fire.

UPDATE 1:18 p.m.: Traffic is being slowed at Kearns Road, Pembroke.

UPDATE 1:18 p.m.: A car has struck a pole at Marble Road, wires down.

Car strikes tow truck at scene of accident

A car has struck a tow truck that was on scene with law enforcement at a previous accident at Oak Orchard Road and Edgerton Road, Elba.

A head injury is reported.

Elba fire and Mercy EMS are dispatched.

UPDATE 9:54 a.m.: Traffic is being shut down at Route 98 and the Elba Fire Rec Hall. It's also being shut down at Daws Corners.

Three vehicles crash at Wortyndyke and West Main Street Road

A three-vehicle accident, unknown inuries, is reported at the corner of West Main Street Road and Wortendyke Road. Mercy medics and East Pembroke Fire Department are responding.

UPDATE 3:08 p.m.: A responder reports heavy traffic there and says the accident is blocking the roadway.

UPDATE 3:11 p.m.: Fire Police are called to handle traffic.

UPDATE 3:43 p.m.: The East Pembroke assignment is back in service.

Driver in Le Roy accident yesterday in guarded condition at Strong

A driver involved in a three-vehicle crash on East Main Street in the Village of Le Roy yesterday morning is in guarded condition at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.

Charles R. Lowe, of Le Roy, was flown to Strong by Mercy Flight following the 9 a.m. accident at the intersection of Wolcott Street.

A driver in another vehicle, Donald Worthington, of Pavilion, was treated at UMMC for a cut on his head and released.

The third driver, Marrinna Ryan, of Le Roy, was treated and released at the scene for facial pain.

Lowe's vehicle was westbound on East Main when it drifted into the left-turn lane at Wolcott and hit the rear of Worthington's truck, which then struck the rear of Ryan's minivan.

Lowe reportedly told the first responding police officer that he may have fallen asleep.

The Sheriff Office Crash Management Team is assisting Le Roy PD in the ongoing investigation.

Accident with unknown injuries reported on the Thruway in Pembroke

A motor-vehicle accident with unknown injuries is reported in the eastbound lane of the Thruway in the area of mile marker 404.

Pembroke and Indian Falls fire dispatched. Mercy EMS dispatched.

UPDATE 11:25 a.m.: A responding chief says, "It looks like he may be out of the woods now. It looks like he's going to be driving out of here." There is a truck off the road. 

UPDATE 11:28 a.m.: It looks like a tow will be required for the truck.

Accident reported on the Thruway with possible injuries

A an accident is reported on the Thruway in the area of mile marker 387, which puts it just east of Byron Road, Town of Batavia.

A driver is reportedly slumped over the wheel of his vehicle.

Town of Batavia Fire and Mercy EMS dispatched.

UPDATE 11:21 a.m.: Town of Batavia back in service. No further information of possible injuries, if any, at this point.

UPDATE 12:26 p.m.: This was a medical issue.

Accident with injuries reported on East Main Street, Le Roy

A motor-vehicle accident with injuries is reported at East Main Street and Church Street, Le Roy.

Le Roy fire and Le Roy ambulance dispatched.

Dispatchers are trying confirm whether there is entrapment.

UPDATE 9:04 a.m.: Route 5 being shut down at North Street and Mill Street.

UPDATE 9:14 a.m.: Mercy Flight put on standby.

UPDATE 9:17 a.m.: We've not heard Mercy Flight dispatched, but a ground contact is being established for a landing zone.

UPDATE 10:50 a.m.: This was a three-vehicle accident. A minivan and a pickup truck were in the turn lane on East Main Street, poised to turn south onto Wolcott, when the pickup truck was struck from behind by a westbound a black Chevy SUV. The truck was pushed into the mini-van. The driver of the SUV told officer Daryl Robb that he apparently fell asleep. A witness reportedly estimated his speed at 50 mph. The SUV driver was taken by Mercy Flight to an area hospital with possible serious injuries. One other driver was taken by ground ambulance to an area hospital and the third driver was a sign-off with only a minor facial cut. There were no passengers in any of the vehicles. The Crash Management Team for the Sheriff's Office is on scene conducting a thorough investigation.

Driver flees after head-on accident on Prospect Avenue

These two vehicles were involved in an overnight accident on Prospect Avenue, Batavia, according to the reader who provided the pictures. The white Honda Civic was parked and the red Mercedes struck the car head-on. The driver fled. At the time the photos were sent to us early this morning, the driver was still at large. We've been unable so far this morning to obtain additional information.

UPDATE: Police say officers have yet to make contact with the driver; however, police believe they know who the driver was and charges are pending.
