Car strikes pole on Reuben Road, no injuries

A car struck a pole, but the driver is not injured, on the Tonawanda Indian Reservation. The location is 7405 Reuben Road. The pole is leaning and there may be wires down. Alabama Fire Department is responding.

UPDATE 1:49 p.m.: The pole is down and blocking one lane of traffic.

UPDATE 4:26 p.m.: The roadway is clear and Alabama is back in service.

Car into pole accident on Stegman Road

A car struck a pole and there are minor injuries. The location is 2615 Stegman Road in the Town of Batavia, west of Powers Road. East Pembroke Fire Department is at the scene. Mercy EMS is dispatched. The pole is still intact. National Grid will be called to check it out.

UPDATE 1:41 p.m.: Two children were taken to UMMC. A 6-year-old boy has ear pain and an 8-year-old girl has elbow and knee pain.

Head-on collision on Route 5, person ejected

A head-on collision with one person ejected from a vehicle is reported at Route 5 and Hopkins Road in the Town of Batavia. The person is semiconscious. Mercy Flight in Buffalo is called, but is not able to fly. The helicopter is Batavia is being contacted. Route 5 will be shut down at Wortendyke  and Powers roads.

East Pembroke Fire Department and State Police Sheriff's deputies are on scene. Mercy medics are responding. Town of Batavia Fire Department is called to provide mutual aid as this is in East Pembroke's fire district.

UPDATE 12:12 p.m.: There are five people involved. Two are children who appear to be OK but will need to be checked out. Two adults are able to walk. One is seriously hurt.

UPDATE 12:20 p.m.: Ambulances from Oakfield and Darien are requested to the scene. They will be providing the third and fourth ambulances responding, respectively. A snow bank has been cleared to enable the Batavia Mercy Flight to fly. A landing zone is being set up in a yard on the southeast corner of Hopkins Road.

UPDATE 12:24 p.m.: The grass in the yard is too wet to land the helicopter, so it will land in the middle of the roadway on Route 5.

UPDATE 12:30 p.m.: Because of safety issues, the helicopter will not being landing on Route 5. Instead, it is being directed to the paved back parking lot of a nearby building.

UPDATE 12:32 p.m.: Mercy Flight is on the ground.

UPDATE 12:50 p.m.: Mercy Flight is airborne, headed to Erie County Medical Center with the seriously injured adult. Two adults children are being taken to Strong Memorial Hospital for evaluation. Darien is going to UMMC with a 48-year-old male truck driver who's complaining of ankle pain and has "a brush burn on his nose." Preliminary indications are that the driver of a minivan lost control of the vehicle, which then crossed the center line and was struck head on by a semi pickup truck. An adult passenger in the pickup truck was uninjured.

UPDATE 2:07 p.m.: The roadways are reopened. East Pembroke is back in service.

Accident reported on Randall Road, Le Roy

A one-vehicle rollover accident has been reported in the area of 7459 Randall Road, Le Roy.

The location is just west of Route 19.

Le Roy fire and ambulance in route.

Dispatchers are checking the availability of Mercy Flight.

The driver reported the accident. He's out of the car but shaken up. A law enforcement officer on scene asks that the ambulance expedite its response.

A pole is snapped and wires are hanging low.

UPDATE 11:44 p.m.: The pole is a telephone pole.

UPDATE 11:45 p.m.: No need for Mercy Flight.

UPDATE 11:48 p.m.: Roads being shut down at Randall and West Bergen and Route 19 and West Bergen.

UPDATE 11:56 p.m.: Patient being transported to Strong.

Rollover accident with injuries reported on South Lake Road, Pavilion

A rollover accident with injuries has been reported in the area of 10605 S. Lake Road, Pavilion.

Pavilion Fire Department and Mercy EMS dispatched.

UPDATE 4:35 p.m.: Car in the water. All people out of the car.

UPDATE 4:52 p.m.: One person is being transported to Strong Memorial Hospital. Pavilion fire is back in service.

Minor-injury accident on Route 5, East Pembroke

A motor-vehicle accident with "very minor injuries" is reported on Route 5, west of Indian Falls Road. Law enforcement is on scene. East Pembroke Fire Department and medics are responding.

UPDATE 8:06 p.m.: An "older male" complains of an arm injury and back pain following this car vs. deer accident. He is being transported to UMMC for evaluation.

Tractor-trailer rollover shuts down traffic on Route 20, Darien

A tractor-trailer has reportedly rolled over on Route 20 in Darien, but the driver has spoken to dispatch and claims to be uninjured, though he is trapped in the cab of the vehicle.

His load is considered non-hazardous.

The location is 2041 Broadway Road.

Darien Fire Department and Mercy EMS dispatched. Alexander requested for traffic control on Route 20. Westbound traffic will be shut down.

A chief reports the roadway is heavily snow covered.

UPDATE 11:26 p.m.: Mercy EMS can take its time driving to the scene, according to a chief. Darien's ambulance is also in route.

UPDATE 11:30 p.m.: Traffic not being shut down. Alexander being asked to slow traffic at Smithley Road.

UPDATE 11:44 p.m.: Driver is out of the truck.

Car off the road, possible injuries on North Lake, Bergen

A motor-vehicle accident is reported in the area of 6004 N. Lake Road, Bergen.

The vehicle is well off the road.

Unknown injuries.

A chief on scene is checking to see if extrication is needed.

Bergen Fire Department and ambulance responding.

UPDATE 11:09 a.m.: No specific word, but this doesn't sound like serious injuries, nor does it sound like extrication was required.

Cars collide at Park and Oak in the city

A motor-vehicle accident is reported at the intersection of Park Road and Oak Street in the City of Batavia. No one is believed to be injured. City police are responding.

UPDATE 12:41 p.m.: City firefighters are requested to the scene because of a broken/leaking radiator.

UPDATE 1:04 p.m.: Both vehicles are blocking the roadway. Two tow trucks will remove them soon -- a responder says in about five minutes.

UPDATE 1:18 p.m.: All units are back in service.

Driver reportedly says GPS distracted her prior to hitting car on Route 5, Corfu

A woman told a deputy she was fiddling with her GPS (global positioning system) prior to rear-ending a car which was stopped on Route 5 at Lovers Lane Road, Corfu.

The accident occurred at 10:50 a.m., Monday, and caused injuries to both drivers but neither was seriously hurt.

Jessica M. Reynolds, 24, of McVean Road, Corfu, was cited for allegedly following too closely. Also injured was Joan Marie Dugan, 75, of Erie Street, Darien Center.

The accident was investigated by Deputy Chris Parker.

Car smashes into pole on Marble Road, Pembroke

A car-into-pole accident is reported at 8295 Marble Road, north of Gabbey Road, in Pembroke. The driver is being pulled from the vehicle. There is heavy damage to it. Wires are down. Pembroke and Indian Falls fire departments and Mercy EMS are responding. There is a power outage now in the vicinity.

UPDATE 7:14 p.m.: There are also telephone wires down and a transformer is involved. Traffic will be blocked at Marble and Akron roads. The driver is out of the vehicle and walking around.

UPDATE 7:24 p.m.: National Grid has been notified. The driver is a male female.

UPDATE 7:45 p.m.: The roadway at Marble and Akron roads is reopened. Pembroke and Indian Falls are back in service.

UPDATE 8:22 p.m.: National Grid is on scene.

Big rig rollover at Batavia exit of Thruway

A tractor-trailer rollover accident is reported at the Batavia exit on the westbound Thruway. Unknown injuries. Town of Batavia Fire Department and Mercy medics are responding.

UPDATE 4:05 p.m.: The accident is blocking both lanes of traffic.

UPDATE 4:07 p.m.: Traffic is heavily backed up. Responders on scene need absorbant material for leaking oil. No diesel fuel has spilt.

UPDATE 4:29 p.m.: The driver is out and uninjured. Traffic delays should be expected for quite a while. Drivers ought to avoid Oak Street. A heavy wrecker / tow truck will be needed at the scene.

UPDATE 4:32 p.m.: Town of Batavia fire and Mercy are back in service. The Thruway Authority's highway supervisor is at the scene in charge of the site.

Car wreck with minor injuries in front of Kutter's Cheese Store, Corfu

A two-car accident is reported in front of Kutter's Cheese Store, 857 Main Road, in Corfu. The westbound lane is blocked. There is a lot of debris and heavy damage, according to a Sheriff's deputy on scene. Injuries are believed to be minor. Pembroke and Indian Falls fire departments and Mercy medics are responding.

UPDATE 10:59 a.m.: Darien ambulance is also requested. There are two victims. One is out and walking around. The other is a 75-year-old female, who is still inside a vehicle.

UPDATE 11:44 a.m.: Darien ambulance transported one patient to UMMC.

Two-car accident with minor injuries on Route 98 near Pike Road

A two-car accident with minor injuries is reported on Route 98 between Pike and Rose roads, Batavia.

The roadway is partially blocked.

UPDATE 8:16 a.m.: A second ambulance requested to the scene, non-emergency.

Two-car collision with injuries at South Lake and Cohocton roads

A two-car collision with injuries is reported at South Lake Road and Cohocton Road. There is possible entrapment in one vehicle. Mercy Flight #5 is put on standby. Pembroke and Indian Falls fire departments along with Mercy EMS are dispatched. Akron fire is responding to the scene since their extrication tools may be needed.

UPDATE 1:31 p.m.: A responder at the scene says everyone is out of the vehicles. Akron's response and Mercy Flight are cancelled.

UPDATE 1:34 p.m.: Pembroke command requests a second ambulance (which will be provided by Darien). One car rolled over into a ditch. There are two people injured.

UPDATE 1:59 p.m.: One patient is being transported to UMMC and another is being taken to Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital in Williamsville.

UPDATE 2:20 p.m.: The Pembroke and Indian Falls assignment is back in service.

Car smacks into pole on Bank Street in the city

A car-into-pole accident is reported at 147 Bank St. in the City of Batavia. Unknown injuries. City firefighters and Mercy medics are responding. The location is between North and Washington avenues.

One-vehicle rollover on Route 77, roadway is shut down because of ice

A one-vehicle rollover accident is reported at Route 77, north of Gabbey Road. Pembroke and Indian Falls fire departments are responding. A pickup truck is reportedly tipped over on its side.

The roadway is super slick. Route 77 is being shut down due to icy conditions at Indian Falls / Gabbey roads. The county Highway Department is aware of the road condition and will have a crew there within the hour.

UPDATE 5:11 p.m.: Mercy medics were called but cancelled since no one involved is injured.

Car-into-tree accident on West Sweden Road, Bergen

A car has struck a tree next to a pole at 5979 W. Sweden Road in Bergen. An occupant reportedly has a head injury but is conscious and alert. Bergen Fire Department and Mercy medics are responding.

UPDATE 2:25 p.m.: The driver is shaken up by the accident, but otherwise OK, according to a responder. There was air-bag deployment. The vehicle is intact and is wedged between the tree and the utility pole. The location is just north of Cook Road.

UPDATE 2:35 p.m.: A person on scene says the car is snagged 10 feet off the ground.

Two-car accident Sunday in Alexander blamed on speeding

A two-car accident in Alexander shortly after 10 Sunday night, which resulted in minor injuries, was caused by a driver allegedly traveling at an unsafe speed for road conditions, according to the accident report.

Alexander resident Nicholas P. Hiscutt, 19, was driving a 2000 Chevy sedan southbound on Route 98 near Dodgeson Road at an allegedly unsafe speed for road conditions. He reportedly lost control of the car and it crossed into the northbound lane, a witness told the investigating officer, Deputy Kevin McCarthy.

Hiscutt's car was struck by a 2003 Chevy Suburban driven by 29-year-old Jon D. Smith, of Prune Street in Batavia, causing both vehicles to veer onto the east shoulder of the roadway. Sylvia L. Smith was a passenger in the Chevy Suburban.

Minor injuries were reported and Jon Smith was taken to UMMC. Hiscutt was issued a citation for allegedly driving at an unreasonable speed.
