A one-vehicle rollover accident without injuries is reported on Route 20 in the area of West Bethany Road. The driver is out of the vehicle. Bethany Fire Department is responding. So are medics as a precaution.
A two-car accident with minor injuries is reported at 4029 W. Main St. Road in Batavia. It's in the area of the Marks Trail Motel. One person is complaining of a shoulder injury. Town of Batavia firefighters and Mercy EMS are responding.
A three-car accident is reported at routes 33 and 237. All vehicles are off the road. There is reportedly one person with a back injury and another with a chest injury, neither are serious. Stafford Fire Department is responding along with two Mercy rigs.
UPDATE 1:52 p.m.: Two patients are being transported to UMMC in one of the Mercy rigs. One is a 33-year-old male who was a driver in the accident. He was wearing a safety belt. He has some lumbar pain. The other patient is a 22-year-old female who was a passenger in the accident. She was also wearing a safety belt and has complaints of right shoulder pain. The second Mercy rig which responded is back in service.
UPDATE 2:10 p.m.: Stafford Fire Department is back in service.
A one-vehicle accident is reported on the Thruway with one occupant entrapped and possibly unconscious.
Mercy Flight is on standby.
The accident is in the area of mile marker 383.6 in the eastbound lane.
Le Roy fire and ambulance dispatched.
UPDATE 1:09 p.m.: A dispatcher informed the Le Roy chief that he spoke with somebody in the toll booth center who said the Thruway Authority did not want Mercy Flight dispatched. The dispatcher said he informed the person that it was the fire chief's call.
UPDATE 1:14 p.m.: The victim is out of the car and with State Troopers on scene. The car is well off the road and on its side. Mercy Flight can stand down.
UPDATE 1:39 p.m.: Le Roy Ambulance Service is headed to Strong Memorial Hospital with two patients on board. Le Roy fire crews are back in service.
An accident involving multiple vehicles is reported on Route 63 near Transit Road. It is completely blocking the roadway. There is no entrapment. Wires are everywhere. National Grid is called. Bethany Fire Department is responding along with Mercy EMS.
Pavilion Fire Department is asked to respond as mutual aid and shut down Route 63 at Bethany Center Road. Southbound traffic is to be shut down at Bethany Center Road / Batavia Stafford Townline Road at Route 63 by Town of Batavia Fire Department, responding as mutual aid.
The roadway is slippery and wet. One person in a minivan has minor injuries, according to law enforcement on scene. At least one car is off the road.
UPDATE 1:33 a.m.: Traffic on Transit Road is backed up at least all the way to East Bethany Le Roy Townline Road. Pole number 6084 6072 is damaged.
UPDATE 1:36 a.m.: The person in the minivan is "all set," and medics are asked to check on the driver of a tractor-trailer. The transformer on the damaged pole is leaking. National Grid has an ETA of 35 minutes. Northbound traffic is also shut down on Route 63 at the juncture with Route 20.
UPDATE 1:50 a.m.: One car struck the utility pole. And a tractor-trailer that followed pulled down the wires. (It is considered two separate accidents, and other drivers involved responded to that sequence of events.) Mercy medics are back in service. The mother of the minivan driver responded to the scene.
UPDATE 1:59 a.m.: At this point, it appears to be just a matter of getting vehicles towed as needed and clearing the roadway so traffic flow can resume.

A two-car accident is reported in Le Roy on East Bethany -- Le Roy Road, between Munson Street and Cole Road.
No word on injuries. Le Roy Fire Department is responding.
UPDATE 12:06 p.m.: Le Roy Ambulance Service is on scene. Responders are told to come in non-emergency mode. The accident involved a utility pole.
UPDATE 12:10 p.m.: Traffic is being slowed to one lane, but the scene will clear very soon.
UPDATE 12:14 p.m.: Le Roy assignment is back in service.
A pickup truck driver reportedly blew right through a stop sign coming off of Fargo Road, Bethany, just before 11 a.m., Friday, and struck a semi-truck head on that was northbound on Route 63.
Investigators are trying to determine if alcohol and prescription medication were factors in the crash.
The pickup driver, Gene L. Kelsey, 70, of Pekin Road, Oakfield, was taken by Mercy Flight to Strong Memorial Hospital where is his listed in guarded condition.
Kelsey's passenger, Michael Snyder, unknown age and residence, was initially transported to UMMC -- after walking to the ambulance -- but was later transferred to Strong. He remains hospitalized in satisfactory condition.
The semi-truck driver, George Wolwerk, 51, of Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, was not injured.
"When I first saw him (Kelsey) he was already past that stop sign and he was traveling at a fair amount of speed," Wolwerk said. "I saw him and next thing I knew all the steam from the radiator was coming out over the top (of the front of the cab)."
Investigators said they believe Kelsey, driving a 2001 Dodge 1500 pickup, did not stop at the stop sign and yield to traffic on Route 63.
Neither Kelsey nor Snyder were reportedly wearing safety belts.
NYSP's commercial vehicle enforcement unit conducted a level one inspection of the tractor-trailer and found no deficiencies.
The Sheriff's Office Crash Management Team is working on a reconstruction of the accident.
Bethany Fire Chief Jeff Fluker said the intersection "has been a problem in the past, with a curve like this and the angle coming off the road," but most people he said, know to stop for the stop sign and take a good look before proceeding onto Route 63.
Wolwerk said he's quite familiar with the road and know he needs to slow down as he approaches the curve on Route 63 just north of Fargo Road.
He said he did the best he could to avoid the accident.
"At that moment you're helpless and you just do what you can to try and minimize the loss," Wolwerk said.
This isn't Wolwerk's first serious accident. He said some years ago a "dear old lady" failed to stop for a stop sign and wrapped her car around his axels. She didn't survive, he said.
Asked if that's the kind of thing a truck driver ever gets over, Wolwerk said, "You have to have the guts to get over that type of thing, and yeah, you do. Truck drivers out here, they got a job that is very demanding."
The accident is being investigated by Deputy John Duyssen and Sgt. Scott Williams. Assisting at the scene where the Bethany Volunteer Fire Department, Pavilion Volunteer Fire Department, Mercy EMS, Mercy Flight and the State Police.
A driver apparently lost control while being pursued by a deputy on Townline Road at Fotch Road, Stafford, and crashed in a field.
Mercy EMS is dispatched.
The deputy is out with the driver.
The deputy initially called in a pursuit and within seconds said, "and he's crashed."
It's unclear how serious the injuries might be.
UPDATE 4:18 p.m.: The crash appears to be further up the road, where Batavia Stafford Townline Road becomes Batavia Elba Townline Road. Town of Batavia responding, with Stafford notified that the accident is in Stafford's district.

A serious motor-vehicle accident is reported at Route 63 and Fargo Road, which is near Little Canada in Bethany. A passerby who called it in said it looked like a head-on collision of a tractor-trailer and a pickup truck. There are two three victims, one with a head injury.
Bethany Fire Department and Mercy medics are en route. A deputy on scene reports southbound Route 63 is to be shut down. Mercy Flight is called to the scene.
Pavilion is asked to shut traffic down at Route 63 and Route 20, which is Texaco Town. Stafford is asked to shut down traffic on Town Line Road.
UPDATE 11:08 a.m.: Another ambulance is needed. One victim is refusing treatment but the medic "won't let him." The 53-foot trailer of the big rig is intact. It is loaded with 18 tons of laundry detergent.
UPDATE 11:11 a.m.: Mercy Flight will be landing in a cornfield east of the accident site.
UPDATE 11:13 a.m.: Traffic will be shut down at Route 63 and Little Canada Road.
UPDATE 11:14 a.m.: Mercy Flight has landed.
UPDATE 11:25 a.m.: Mercy medics are headed to UMMC with one patient on board.
UPDATE 11:28 a.m.: The patient going to UMMC is coming in for evaluation with complaints of general aches and pains. He is 33. In an unrelated call, a man near the accident scene called dispatch to say his rear window was blown out of his vehicle and he believes he was shot at. He asked that a deputy respond and law enforcement on scene says one will but they are all tied up at the moment.
UPDATE 11:33 a.m.: Mercy Flight is airborne and headed to Strong Memorial Hospital. Roadways are being reopened. Another victim is also being taken to UMMC. The male is suffering from broken ribs and shoulder pain.
UPDATE 12:51 p.m. (by Howard): We'll have more on the accident later this afternoon or evening after the Sheriff's Office releases its report; however, it appears that the driver of the blue pickup truck didn't stop at the intersection and turned left onto Route 63 into oncoming traffic. The semi-truck driver said he barely had time to react before hitting the smaller truck head on.
A two-car accident with air bag deployment is reported at Byron Holley Road and Cockram Road, Byron.
If there are injuries, they are minor.
The cars are blocking and there is reportedly a lot of debris in the roadway. Byron and South Byron fire departments being dispatched as a precaution.
UPDATE 8:45 a.m.: There were no injuries. Byron and South Byron are back in service.
A three-car accident with injuries is reported in the area of 1633 Lewiston Road, near Church Street. Alabama Fire Department and Mercy medics are responding.
UPDATE 5:13 p.m: A county highway truck on scene says there are no injuries. But dispatch reports that a caller involved in the accident says she's hurt. Medics are continuing to the scene. A county employee advises responders to use caution: "As you get out on Lewiston Road, it gets nasty and you can't see." Now a person asks if the DOT has been informed that "the roads are nothing but a sheet of ice." Dispatch replies that the DOT is aware of the situation and has in fact been calling about it.
UPDATE 5:21 p.m.: Traffic is backing up near the scene. Alabama Fire Police are instructed to shut down Knowlesville Road.
UPDATE 5:24 p.m.: Traffic police are told to shut down eastbound traffic at Lewiston and Alleghany roads. Response times are going to be delayed because of severe white-out conditions.
UPDATE 5:48 p.m.: Two flatbed tow trucks are called to the scene. The roads are going to be reopened now.
A one-vehicle rollover accident, with no injuries, is reported at 10216 Alexander Road. Alexander Fire Department is responding. The location is in the area of Bloomer's Dairy Farm.
UPDATE 5:02 p.m.: The vehicle is leaking fluids. A responder says "The roads are slipperier that they look."
UPDATE 5:05 p.m.: A responder on scene reports that there's another accident on the same road (Route 98) about 50 feet away. It involves two cars and there are parts laying in the road. A State Trooper is en route.
UPDATE 5:07 p.m.: The vehicle leaking fluid is spewing gasoline. "It's springing right out." The second accident scene up the road also has no injuries. Law enforcement units are headed to both.
UPDATE 5:19 p.m.: The second accident involving two vehicles has cleared without any assistance. Both driver left the scene before, or soon after, help arrived.
A motor-vehicle accident has been reported on Wilkinson Road near the railroad tracks.
It's unknown if there are injuries.
East Pembroke Fire Department and Mercy EMS dispatched.
UPDATE 9:22 a.m.: A firefighter on scene helped push the car out of a ditch and the car continued on its way. No damage. No injuries. All emergency response cancelled.
A two-car accident has been reported in the area of 87 Lake St., Le Roy, with one person having a possible leg injury.
The cars are blocking.

A driver reportedly failed to stop for a stop sign off Perry Road at Route 20 in Pavilion Sunday night, leading to a two-car collision that sent one person to the hospital.
Lee R. Broadwell, 59, of Sheldon Street, Castile, was reportedly south on Perry at 8:08 p.m., when his 2007 Dodge SUV allegedly went through the stop sign at Route 20.
Broadwell's vehicle struck a 2010 Chevy sedan driven by Donald R. Sweeney, 22, of Peck Road, Hilton.
Sweeney's passenger, Andrew V. Sweeney, 20, was injured and transported by Mercy EMS to Strong Memorial Hospital.
Pavilion Fire Department responded to the scene and extricated Andrew Sweeney from the car.
Neither Donald Sweeney, Broadwell nor Broadwell's passenger were injured.
The accident report does not indicate that a citation was issued.
The incident was investigated by Deputy James Diehl.

A chief on scene requests the status of Mercy Flight. Mercy Flight 2 is returning to Batavia from Buffalo and can be routed to the accident if necessary.

UPDATE 8:24 p.m.: One injury with complaint of neck and back pain, and three people who will probably not require ambulance transport.

UPDATE 8:35 p.m.: Landing zone being set up just south of the accident scene. Mercy Flight as a nine minute ETA. Patient extricated.
UPDATE 8:42 p.m.: Per a Mercy medic on scene, Mercy Flight can go back in service. The patient will be transported by ground ambulance.
UPDATE 9:01 p.m.: Pavilion fire back in service. One fire police remaining on scene to help with traffic control until the vehicles are towed away.

A vehicle has reportedly smashed into a bridge support on westbound 490 at mile marker 3.1 and the Route 33A overpass. It is wedged into the support and there are a couple of children in the backseat who may need extrication. Bergen Fire Department and Mercy medics are responding. Le Roy Fire Department is also standing by in quarters.
UPDATE 8:56 p.m.: Le Roy is back in service. A flatbed tow truck is called to the scene. There are no serious injuries.
UPDATE 9:02 p.m.: Bergen is put back in service.
A two-car, minor injury accident is reported at Route 5 and Roanoke Road in Stafford. Stafford fire and Mercy medics are responding.
UPDATE 4:04 p.m.: All patients will be sign-offs. Medics are to continue in non-emergency mode.
A tractor-trailer is jackknifed on Route 63 in the Hamlet of East Bethany. The location is between East Bethany and Le Roy roads. It is completely blocking the roadway and yet some vehicles are attempting to go around it. State police are called to the scene.
A disabled tractor-trailer is blocking the roadway on Meadville Road in Alabama. The driver is not inside. Alabama fire is responding.
