Three ambulances requested to accident in Bergen

Three ambulances have been dispatched to a two-vehicle accident at South Lake Road and Clinton Street Road, Bergen.

There is entrapment in at least one vehicle. There are possible head injuries. No word on how serious the injuries might be.

Bergen fire and Bergen ambulance are on scene.

The road is blocked.

Le Roy fire is also requested to the scene.

Three-car accident on Main Street, Le Roy

A three-car accident with minor injuries is reported in front of the McDonald's in Le Roy.

Le Roy Ambulance requested to the scene by Le Roy PD for evaluation of patients.

Accident reported on Clinton Street Road in Stafford

A two-car accident is reported at 5449 Clinton Street Road, Stafford. It is blocking traffic. One vehicle's OnStar alert system reports no injuries in that vehicle.

Law enforcement is on scene. Stafford Fire Department is responding along with Mercy medics.

The location is between Horseshoe Lake Road and Prole Road Extension.

UPDATE 1:35 p.m.: Fire police are asked to shut down eastbound traffic at Route 33 (Clinton Street Road) and Batavia-Stafford Town Line Road.

Rollover accident reported in Elba

A one-vehicle rollover accident is reported in Elba at 6447 Oak Orchard Road. Unknown injuries. The vehicle came to rest on its side.

Elba Fire Department and Mercy medics are responding. A deputy just arrived on scene.

UPDATE 7:43 a.m.: There are two occupants, neither is injured.

UPDATE 7:54 a.m.: The vehicle is large and there are some fluids leaking. Fire police are shutting Oak Orchard Road down at North Byron/Lockport Road and at Watson Road.

UPDATE 9:12 a.m.: The road is reopened. All units back in service.

Brake line failure blamed for two-vehicle accident in Pembroke

A driver's brake line apparently broke causing an accident at 9:36 a.m., Monday, on Route 77 at Cohocton Road, Pembroke, according to a Sheriff's Office accident report.

Only one driver in the two-car accident was injured. 

Kendra L. Cain, 48, of Main Road, Corfu, suffered an elbow injury and was transported to UMMC for evaluation.

According to the accident investigation by Deputy Kevin McCarthy, Cain was driving a 2002 Ford SUV eastbound on Cohocton Road when she came to a stop sign at Route 77.

She was unable to stop the vehicle and her SUV traveled into the intersection where it struck a 2015 Chrysler SUV driven by Mary Saleman, 69, of Clover Place, Cheektowaga.

Neither Saleman nor Cain's passenger, Demetrius A. Cing, 16, were injured in the crash.

No citations were issued.

Motorcycle accident reported in Stafford on Route 33

A motorcycle accident is reported on Route 33 in Stafford. Stafford Fire Department and Mercy medics responded. South Byron Fire Police are called to shut down Route 33 at Griswald Road and Route 33 at Route 237.

Mercy Flight is called to the scene.

UPDATE 5:34 p.m.: A husband and wife were riding their respective motorcycles, he on a black bike, she on a red Honda, when he slowed down for unknown reasons. His wife, who was just behind him, slowed suddenly to avoid hitting him and she lost control of her bike and crashed. She had an open-face helmet on and suffered road rash on her face and extremities and complained of head, chest and abdomen pain. A trooper at the scene said she was taken by Mercy Flight to Strong Memorial Hospital.The husband was not injured. No other vehicles were involved.

The accident is blocking.

Rollover accident reported in Darien

A two-vehicle accident in which one vehicle rolled over is reported at Sumner Road and County Line Road in Darien. A first responder reports minor injuries and two of the patients are children. Darien fire and Mercy medics responding.

UPDATE 4:52 p.m.: A vehicle is in the middle of the intersection; traffic control will be needed.

Mercy Flight dispatched to accident at Area 51

A rider was reported unconscious following an ATV accident at Area 51 on Harlow Road and Mercy Flight has been dispatched.

East Pembroke Fire Department is responding.

A first-responder on scene indicated the patient had gained at least some degree of consciousness.

"He's not talking much," he said.

Car-into-tree accident reported on West Bergen Road, Le Roy

A motor-vehicle accident, a car into a tree, with unknown injuries, is reported in the area of 8251 W. Bergen Road, between Randall Road and Selden Road, Le Roy.

Le Roy fire and Le Roy ambulance dispatched.

UPDATE 11:33 p.m.: Law enforcement on scene reports the driver is out of the vehicle and walking. Responding units can come in non-emergency.

Accident reported on Thruway

A two-car accident with injuries is reported on the Thruway in the westbound lane at mile marker 398.7.

East Pembroke fire and Mercy EMS dispatched.

UPDATE 9:53 a.m.: Two vehicles, two patients, one complaining of injuries. "We'll be all set with the resources we have," says a first responder.

UPDATE 10:12 a.m.: East Pembroke assignment is back in service.

Rollover accident reported in Elba

A rollover accident with injuries is reported at 5291 Ford Road in Elba. The occupant was able to get out of the vehicle. Elba fire and fire police are responding, along with Mercy medics. A pole and wires are down.

UPDATE 6:41 p.m.: Fire police are going to shut down Route 262 (Ford Road) at Norton Road and at Transit Road.

UPDATE 6:46 p.m.: National Grid has been notified; no ETA provided.

UPDATE 7:16 p.m. The driver was taken by ambulance to UMMC. National Grid arrived on scene a few minutes ago. Byron Repair is en route for the tow.

UPDATE 8:34 p.m.: Command just advised dispatch that the roadway will be closed for the next couple of hours.

Accident reported on Route 20, Alexander.

A vehicle has struck a utility pole on Broadway Road at Bowen Road, Alexander.

There may be injuries.

Wires are down.

A second call reports it is a tractor-trailer and the driver is trapped in the vehicle because of wires down.

Alexander Fire and Mercy EMS dispatched.

UPDATE 8:19 p.m.: A chief on scene says the roadway is blocked. "There are wires down all over the place."

UPDATE 8:21 p.m.: The pole is down.

UPDATE 8:22 p.m.: The driver says he is uninjured but there are trucks backed up and the chief isn't sure which if any of the trucks have wires down on them. He can't get further down the road because of the wires and pole down to investigate.

UPDATE 8:24 p.m.: Darien dispatched to shut down traffic eastbound at Route 238.

UPDATE 8:25 p.m.: An officer on scene has been told that a truck with an over-sized load heading east took down al the wires and continued on.

UPDATE 8:29 p.m.: There are other poles involved, either down or snapped. Primary lines are down and secondary lines are down.

Drivers in morning accident in Batavia remain under evaluation at Strong

Distracted driving is being blamed for a two-car collision this morning that sent two people to Strong Memorial Hospital, one by Mercy Flight.

Both patients are listed as "under evaluation."

The accident was reported at 11:10 a.m. in the area of 3646 West Main Street Road, Batavia.

According to the accident report by Deputy Kevin McCarthy, the driver of a 2011 Ford sedan was eastbound on Route 5 when the driver "became distracted by moving his phone" and crossed into the westbound lane.

His vehicle struck a 2012 Chevy SUV driven by Patricia G. Bunk, 35, of Graham Road, Elba. She was transported by Mercy EMS to Strong.

The driver of the Ford sedan is identified in the report as William T. Gibbs, 63, of West Main Street Road, Corfu; however, the hospital doesn't have a patient under that name. They do have a patient under a different name who is the same age and lives at the same address as Gibbs but the hospital spokesman said he couldn't disclose the name being used by the patient. 

Gibbs was transported by Mercy Flight to Strong and was conscious at the time of transport.

That driver was cited for allegedly crossing over into traffic, driving left of centerline markings.

ATV rider in ICU at Strong after accident in Oakfield on Sunday

A man involved in an ATV accident at 8:30 a.m., Sunday, is in guarded condition at Strong Memorial Hospital.

A patient listed as "guarded" at Strong is in the Intensive Care Unit.

The Sheriff's Office identified the rider as Angel L. Claudio Lopez, 43, no address listed.

According to the accident report, Lopez was riding an ATV up a sand hill on property at 2750 Maple Avenue Road, Oakfield, when the vehicle overturned, ejecting Lopez, and then landed on him.

Lopez suffered a head injury but was described as conscious at the time he was taken by Mercy Flight to Strong.

The accident was investigated by Deputy Travis DeMuth.

UPDATED: Accident with entrapment reported on West Main Street Road, Batavia

A two-vehicle accident with injuries is reported at 3646 W. Main Street Road by Pudgie's Lawn & Garden in Batavia. Two patients need extricating.

East Pembroke Fire Department is on scene along with Mercy medics and law enforcement.

Town of Batavia Fire Department is called as mutual aid to provide extrication equipment. Mercy Flight was called then canceled, then called again. A landing zone will be set up at County Building #2.

UPDATE 11:32 a.m.: Mercy Flight is en route to the landing zone at County Building #2. Two flatbed tow trucks are called to the accident scene.

UPDATE 11:35 a.m.: A deputy is responding to West Main Street Road for traffic control.

UPDATE 1:16 p.m. by Alecia Kaus : The Genesee County Sheriff's Department is investigating a two-vehicle accident that occurred at 3446 W. Main Street Road before noon today. Sheriff's deputies say a Ford Focus headed east on Route 5 crossed over into the oncoming lane and struck an SUV that was headed west. The male driver of the Ford Focus was transported by Mercy Flight to ECMC with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. He was conscious and alert. The female driver of the SUV was transported to Strong Hospital in Rochester via ground ambulance with unknown injuries. Deputies say charges are pending against the driver of the Ford Focus.

ATV accident reported off Hutton Road, Oakfield

An ATV accident in Oakfield with the driver suffering traumatic injuries to the face is reported on U.S. Gypsum Co. property, a half mile off Hutton Road. Oakfield Fire Department and Mercy medics are responding.
