Rollover accident in Stafford is blocking traffic on Route 237

A one-vehicle rollover accident is reported in the area of 8810 Morganville Road (Route 237) in Stafford. It is blocking traffic. Stafford Fire Department is responding along with Mercy medics. A first responder on scene says the occupant is conscious and alert and has facial injuries.

Mercy Flight in Batavia is on ground standby. The vehicle is said to have rolled over several times.

Accident with entrapment reported on Route 237, Bryon

A motor-vehicle accident with injuries and entrapment is reported at Route 237 and Cockram Road, Byron.

Traffic is blocked.

Dispatchers are checking the availability of Mercy Flight.

Byron and South Byron fire departments dispatched along with Mercy EMS.

UPDATE 12:16 p.m.: Chief on scene, "negative on entrapment." Minor facial lacerations. No need for Mercy Flight.

Rollover accident reported in Pavilion, vehicle is in water

A motor-vehicle rollover accident is reported in the area of 11025 S. Lake Road in Pavilion, just north of Route 63. The vehicle went into water; unknown injuries or how deep the water is.

The roads in the vicinity are "nothing but complete ice," says a first responder, adding that the Mercy unit approaching should use caution because it's so slippery.

Another one says "(Route) 20 is no better than 63."

Pavilion Fire Department is responding, along with Mercy medics.

UPDATE 8:41 a.m.: Everyone is out of the vehicle and walking; injuries, if any, appear to be minor. The occupants are heading to a nearby residence.

UPDATE 8:42 a.m.: "No injuries." A deputy is going to stop at the residence to check on them.

UPDATE 8:43 a.m.: Mercy Flight had been contacted; then canceled.

UPDATE 8:44 a.m.: Mercy medics are to continue in non-emergency mode.

UPDATE 8:56 a.m.: A deputy calls for a tow of the vehicle, which he says is an SUV, 10 feet down an embankment, partially submerged in water.

UPDATE 8:59 a.m.: Two trucks from Stella's towing service will be responding with a 15-minute ETA.

UPDATE 9:13 a.m.: Stella's two trucks are on scene.

Area man killed in accident on Main Road, Pembroke

A Pembroke-area resident, whose name has not yet been released by local law enforcement, was killed this afternoon in a head-on collision with a tractor-trailer on Main Road near the county line.

The accident was reported at 3:06 p.m. in the area of 352 Main Road.

First responders reported a large debris field. Mercy Flight helicopters were put on ground standby but soon canceled after medics arrived on scene.

The driver of the tractor-trailer suffered minor injuries and was taken by Mercy EMS to UMMC for evaluation.

The driver of the SUV was westbound when it crossed the center line and struck the truck driver's-side-to-driver's-side. The SUV was heavily damaged in the accident.

Assistant Chief Ed Mileham, Indian Falls fire, said it was one of the worst accident scenes he's responded to in the 37 years he's been a volunteer firefighter.

UPDATE 9:30 a.m., Friday, March 15: The name of the driver killed in the crash is Wayne A. Striewing, 54, of Pembroke. Striewing was driving a 2017 Lexus NX2 westbound on Route 5 when the vehicle crossed the centerline, entering the eastbound lane. Investigators have yet to determine why Striewing's vehicle cross the centerline. The Lexus struck a 2016 Peterbilt tractor-trailer operated by Raymond L. Bennett, 56, of Winona, Mo. 

The crash is being investigated by Deputy James Stack, Deputy Kyle Krzemien, Sgt. Andrew Hale, Sgt. Jason Saile, Investigator Chris Parker, Investigator Chad Minuto, and Chief Deputy Joseph Graff. Assisting at the scene were the State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit, Department of Environmental Conservation, Pembroke Volunteer Fire Department, Indian Falls Volunteer Fire Department, East Pembroke Volunteer Fire Department, Mercy EMS, and Coroner Jeff McIntyre.

Head-on collision: Car vs. semi in Pembroke, serious injuries

A head-on car vs. tractor-trailer accident with serious injuries was reported in Pembroke about an hour ago.

The location is 352 Main Road. It is close to the Erie County line.

Pembroke, Indian Falls and East Pembroke fire departments are on scene along with an ambulance.

Two Mercy Flight helicopters on standby were cancelled.

The accident is blocking traffic and the road is closed. There is a large debris field. The semi is in a ditch.

UPDATE 5:52 p.m.: Law enforcement command at the scene confirms this a fatal accident.

Accident with injuries reported at Route 20 and County Line Road

A two-vehicle accident with injuries is reported at Route 20 and County Line Road, Darien.

At least one person was trapped inside, but a first responder was able to pop open a rear door and extricate the person. Darien Fire Department and its ambulance are on scene.

The accident is not blocking the roadway, but traffic control is needed. Genesee County Sheriff's deputies are also on scene.

UPDATE 9:28 a.m.: Darien medics are en route to UMMC with one patient.

Photo: Truck hits SUV at entrance to Walmart

At about 5:30 p.m. there was a truck vs. SUV accident at the parking lot entrance to Walmart.

The person who supplied the photo said it looked to him like the driver of the SUV tried to make a right turn on the right side of the truck, which had already initiated a right turn.

The witness said he didn't believe there were any injuries.

No further information is available at this time.

Two-car accident reported on Lewiston Road, Oakfield

A two-car accident is reported at 7615 Lewiston Road, Oakfield.

The accident is blocking but dispatchers are getting conflicting information on injuries.

Oakfield fire dispatched. Mercy EMS dispatched as a precaution.

UPDATE 9:21 a.m.: One patient complaining of chest pain. Two flatbed tows requested to the scene. 

UPDATE 9:24 a.m.: The driver of one vehicle is unable to get out of the driver's side door so extrication is needed.

UPDATE 9:26 a.m.: The driver managed to get out of the vehicle from the passenger side, no extrication needed. Town of Batavia Fire had been dispatched for help with extrication. Now they will help with traffic control.

Southbound Ellicott Street Road blocked by non-injury accident

Nobody was reported injured, but a two-car accident is blocking southbound Ellicott Street Road, Batavia.

City fire is on scene and requests two flatbed trucks to deal with the disabled vehicles.

"You better get them here quick," a trooper informs dispatch, because of the traffic tie-up.

UPDATE 3:45 p.m.: An ambulance now requested to the scene to examine a person for possible whiplash. Also, additional traffic control assistance requested.

UPDATE 3:58 p.m.: Town of Batavia Fire on scene to help with traffic control and handle fluid clean up.

A motor-vehicle accident with injuries is reported in front of Arby's on West Main Street, Batavia.

City fire and Mercy EMS dispatched.

UPDATE 10:26 a.m.: Two cars blocking westbound traffic.

Woman struck on Judge Road, police in pursuit of vehicle

A woman has been struck by a vehicle on Judge Road and police are in pursuit of the vehicle.

The pursuit apparently started in Orleans County before the woman was struck.

Alabama fire and Mercy EMS are responding to Judge Road.

The vehicle has reportedly returned to Orleans County. Genesee County units are not pursuing the vehicle into Orleans County but have advised patrols in Orleans County of its location.

No word on whether the woman struck suffered serious or non-serious injuries.

UPDATE 11:47 p.m.: Dispatchers are checking on the availability of Mercy Flight.

UPDATE 11:50 p.m.: Orleans patrols lost sight of the vehicle.

UPDATE 11:59 p.m.: The vehicle has apparently been located. Genesee County units told they can stand down. Report from the accident scene, Mercy Flight can stand down.

UPDATE 12:47 a.m.: The vehicle was impounded by State Police and the woman was transported to ECMC.

Three-vehicle collision with injuries reported on Route 5 in Stafford

A three-vehicle collision with injuries is reported at Route 5 and Batavia Stafford Townline Road. Stafford Fire Department is responding along with Mercy medics.

UPDATE 5:42 p.m.: Mercy medic #1 and Le Roy ambulance are called -- second and third ambulances to the scene.

No injuries reported in rollover accident on Munson Street, Le Roy

A car has hit a tree and rolled over in the area of 49 Munson St., Le Roy.

No injuries.

Le Roy fire and Le Roy ambulance responding.

Le Roy fire police requested to shut down Munson at Gilbert and at Route 19.

A Le Roy police officer is on scene.

Accident reported on Thruway in Pembroke

A motor vehicle accident is reported in the eastbound lane of the Thruway at mile marker 402.1.

That's near the Pembroke exit.

Injuries are reported.

Pembroke Fire and Indian Falls Fire along with Mercy EMS dispatched.

UPDATE 9:10 a.m.: One person injured, complaining of shoulder pain. One ambulance should be sufficient. Troop T and Thruway maintenance requested to the scene.

UPDATE 9:12 a.m.: East Pembroke is requested to assemble a crew in quarters for standby in case the department's assistance is needed at the accident scene.

Accident with injuries reported on Route 98 at Edgerton Road, Elba

A car has reportedly hit a tree on Route 98 at Edgerton Road.

Injuries are reported.

Elba fire and Mercy EMS dispatched.

UPDATE 8:17 a.m.: Possible head injury.

UPDATE 8:20 a.m.: The vehicle is partially blocking.

UPDATE 8:22 a.m.: A trooper reports the patient is conscious and alert and complaining of neck pain.
