DONATE food: Drop off at Northgate church's North Campus

Help is needed in replenishing local emergency food supplies.

The Salvation Army of Batavia usually helps two to three families obtain meals, three times a week. Currently they are caring for 25-40 families. Their supplies are exhausted.

Northgate Free Methodist Church will be hosting a food drive to support The Salvation Army each Monday during "New York on PAUSE." Please drop off food donations at Northgate North Campus (8160 Bank Street Road), Mondays during the hours of 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Free drive-thru dinner: Batavia's Original and Le Roy Rotary provide pizza, salad, dessert tonight in Le Roy

"Pizza! Pizza!"

Tonight from 5 to 6 free drive-thru dinners will be distributed in Le Roy thanks to the Le Roy Rotary Community Kitchen and the largesse of Batavia's Original Pizzeria. The distribution site is at 15 Bank St., Le Roy.

Christine Gephart, president of the club's Community Kitchen, said last week 250 dinners were provided.

This week, they are partnering with Batavia's Original and will serve pizza, salad and dessert, too.

Le Roy Rotary Community Kitchen serving free meals at drive-thru at Masonic center parking lot, get a bag of groceries, too

The Le Roy Rotary Community Kitchen will be serving its regular hot dinner from 5 to 6 p.m. today at Le Roy Masonic Community Center, 12 Bank St.

Organizers said meals – pulled pork or ham, potatoes, salad, desserts -- are being served via a drive-thru process and bags of groceries will be given to their patrons.

There is no charge for the dinners and take-home items will also be available at no cost.

"Books, Bourbon & Wine" with author Robert "Bo" Brabo will be hosted by The YNGODESS Shop, located at 73 Main St., Batavia, from 3-6 p.m. on Saturday, April 18th.
 
The title of the book is "From the Battlefield to the White House to the Boardroom: Leading Organizations to Value-Based Results."

CANCELLED: The Great Batavia Train Show at GCC's Call Arena

CANCELLED: The Great Batavia Train Show scheduled for 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 29, at the Richard C. Call Arena at Genesee Community College has been cancelled due to coronavirus restrictions intended to reduce crowds and the spread of the virus.

The fall show is scheduled at the venue on Sunday, Nov. 15.

Public open house on countywide Resiliency Plan held at GO ART!

What makes a County resilient? What does a Resiliency Plan for a County look like? New York Green is holding a Public Informational Open House on Thursday, March 12, to discuss the development of a Countywide Resiliency Plan for Genesee County.

The Public Open House will be held on Thursday, March 12, from 5 – 7 p.m. at the Genesee-Orleans Regional Arts Council (GO ART!) on 201 E. Main Street in Batavia.

CANCELLED: Old-style all-you-can-eat breakfast at Bethany Community Center to benefit Bethany Volunteer Fire Department

CANCELLED: The old-style breakfast is back!

The Bethany Volunteer Fire Department will host an all-you-can-eat breakfast from 8 a.m. to noon on Sunday, March 29 at the Bethany Community Center.

Cost is $9 for adults;$5 for children 7 to 12; and kids 6 and under eat free.

Enjoy scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, toast, pancakes, sausage gravy and biscuits, and home fries!

All proceeds benefit the Bethany Volunteer Fire Company.

Bethany Community Center is located at 10510 Bethany Center Road in East Bethany.

BHS Drama Club's '45 Plays for 45 Presidents'

The Batavia High School Drama Club will present its newest play tonight called "45 Plays for 45 Presidents."

It starts at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 7. There's a matinee Sunday at 2 o'clock.

"Basically the play is exactly how it sounds; one scene for each of our 45 presidents," said Caryn Leigh Wood, musical and drama director. "It is considered experimental, historical, comedy and has some really interesting content."

A total of 25 students in grades 9-12 are in the production.

Drum corps music extravaganza at Batavia Downs

Music will take center stage for “An Afternoon of Drum Corps Music” on Saturday, March 14th at Batavia Downs Gaming. 

The individuals and ensembles start at 1 p.m. and the full corps perform at approximately 4 p.m.

This is a first, to have many corps performing inside this early in the year.

The corps’ consist of brass and percussion instruments. Some groups are competitive and others just for entertainment.
