A motor-vehicle accident is reported at 23 Oak St., at the intersection with Prospect Avenue. It involves three vehicles, none of which are blocking the roadway.

There is one minor injury and another person is "shaken up" because of the incident.

City fire and Mercy medics are on scene.

UPDATE (12:24 p.m.): City fire is clearing the scene, back in service.

UPDATE (12:28 p.m.): Two people are transported to UMMC with minor injuries and/or to be evaluated. Personnel on scene reported that two vehicles had only "brush marks" as a result of the incident. The other vehicle had minor damage.

A motor-vehicle accident with injuries has been reported on the Thruway, eastbound lane between mile markers 402 and 404.

Pembroke and Indian Falls Fire  with Mercy EMS being dispatched.

The Pembroke chief warns that responders should be aware that the Route 77 bridge over the Thruway is very slick.

On scene, the chief reports three vehicles involved. No word yet on injuries.

UPDATE 9:04 a.m.: Everybody is out of the cars and walking around. One person may have an eye injury.

UPDATE 9:14 a.m.: A second ambulance is requested to the scene.

UPDATE 11 a.m.

A 61-year-old Rochester man was hit by a car at about 8 a.m. on Center Street, Batavia.

The driver of the car said he was looking further up the road and just didn't see the man until it was too late.

The man was walking diagonally across Center Street with his back to the northbound car.

"The driver just didn't see the pedestrian," said Sgt. Robert Yaeger, who added that visibility was a little lower at the time of the accident. "It's just one of those things. It's an unfortunate accident."

No citations were issued, though the accident remains under investigation.

Injured was Paul H. Wypych, of Rockingham Drive, Rochester. The driver is identified as Dennis A. Weibel, of Route 38, Castile.

Wypych was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital, where at 11 a.m. he was still being evaluated.

A caller has reported finding a car that hit a tree and is now on its side in the area of 470 Council House Road.

The caller reports finding blood, but can't see any person around, at least not in the dark.

Alabama Fire and Mercy EMS being dispatched.

UPDATE 12:13 a.m.: Alabama chief reports no victim at the scene. He confirms, the car is on its side.

A driver allegedly failed to yield the right-of-way, leading to a minor injury accident at the intersection of Bank Street Road and South Bennett Heights yesterday morning.

The 7:57 a.m. accident sent Tonya L. Passamonte, 45, of Washington Avenue, Batavia, to UMMC, but neither the driver nor the passenger of the other car were injured.

According to a report prepared by Deputy Chris Parker, a 2003 Dodge pickup driven by Elizabeth A. Bruns, 42, of South Bennett Heights, Batavia, was westbound from South Bennett Heights when she "failed to yield the right-of-way" at the intersection, rolling past the stop sign.

The report does not list any citations issued.

Passamonte was driving a 2008 Chevy SUV.

Bruns' passenger was 16-year-old Mary C. Boerschlein.

A two-vehicle accident is reported at the roundabout in Batavia. There are injuries and Mercy EMS and the Batavia Fire Department are responding. Batavia police are on scene, at South Main and Walnut streets.

UPDATE (6:45 p.m.): Personnel there say extrication is needed.

UPDATE (7:05 p.m.): The "extrication" consisted of prying back a dented door to allow the passenger inside to get out. Injuries are minor. This accident involved a minivan and a four-door sedan.

An accident involving a minivan and a pickup truck is reported at routes 63 and 19. The truck is blocking southbound traffic.

One person is said to have a broken arm, another facial injuries.

Pavilion Fire Department and Mercy EMS are responding. An ambulance from Le Roy is also called to respond.

A motor-vehicle accident with injuries has been reported at State Street Roads and South Bennett Heights Road, Batavia.

Town of Batavia Fire and Mercy EMS are responding.

First responder reports one car is in a corn field, the other is on the road.

An accident has been reported in the Target parking lot, between the store and the AT&T Store.

One person is complaining of a head injury.

Mercy EMS and Town of Batavia Fire are responding.

UPDATE 4:11 p.m.: A fire crew is standing by at headquarters. A chief reports, "the fire department isn't needed here." The first responding Mercy ambulance said the second ambulance could go back in service.  Also, the fire chief on scene has requested that law enforcement respond.

A motor-vehicle accident with minor injuries is reported at Cole and East Bethany-Le Roy roads. Le Roy fire and ambulance are responding.

Le Roy Fire Police are called to the scene.

UPDATED 11:50 a.m.

A diesel fuel delivery truck hit a passenger vehicle on Route 19 just north of Bergen a little after 7 a.m., causing 50 to 70 gallons of diesel fuel to spill and severely injuring the driver of the passenger vehicle.

Route 19 has been closed since the accident and will be closed for well into the afternoon.

The name of the driver of the passenger vehicle is not available at this time and nobody else was in the car with him. He was taken by Mercy Flight to Strong Memorial Hospital.

Two drivers where entrapped, but the truck driver was suffered only minor injuries, according to Tim Yaeger, the county's emergency management coordinator.

A third car was involved, but was only a minor part of the accident, according to Sgt. James Meier. The car just clipped the truck as it was coming to rest, Meier said.

The Genesee County Sheriff's Office is handling the investigation and the cause of the accident. Names of the victims are expected to be released later.

Yaeger said the truck, after striking the car, turned on its side and rolled into some trees. 

The fuel on the truck needed to be transferred to another truck before it could be up righted.

UPDATE 11:05 a.m.: The road clean up is going to take longer than expected. Special equipment needs to be brought in from Victor. Once on scene, the work is expected to take as long as two hours, so this section of Route 19 could be closed for up to three more hours.

UPDATE 12:21 p.m.: The drivers have been identified: James E. Simons, 36, of Mount Morris, was driving a 2001 Jeep. Aron S. Flatt, 38, of Ontario, was driving the tanker truck. Patrick J. Donahue, 21, of Batavia, was driving a 2008 Ford pickup truck. 

According to the Sheriff's Office, Simons was heading north on Route 19 at 5:30 a.m. when his Jeep crossed the center line and collided with the tanker. The tanker was loaded with approximately 2000 gallons of diesel fuel.  Donahue was not injured and his truck sustained only minor damage. 

Simons and Flatt were both transported to Strong. Flatt was taken by ground ambulance, Simons by Mercy Flight.

The crash is being investigated by deputies James Weis, Frank Bordonaro, Ron Meides and Sgt. James Meier. Assisting at the scene were the Bergen and Churchville fire departments as well as Genesee county Emergency Management and NYTS Department of Environmental Conservation.

A bicycle rider has been struck in the area of 8322 Park Road, Batavia.

Mercy EMS and Town of Batavia Fire are being dispatched.

UPDATE 8:13 a.m.: Town of Batavia back in service. This is not a motor vehicle accident, a chief reports. A man fell off his bicycle.

A two-car accident (possibly three) with injuries is reported at Route 5 and Fargo Road. There is entrapment and extrication will be needed for one of the vehicles.

Stafford Fire Department, State Police and Mercy EMS are responding.

UPDATE: (5:18 p.m.): The entrapped person has been extricated. The 46-year-old female driver of one of the vehicles in en route to UMMC with bruises, a sore arm and other minor injuries.

The others involved apparently are being cared for at the scene or being transported via ambulance to UMMC.

Apparently two cars in separate incidences have had accidents within the last half hour at or near the roundabout on Oak Street. Traffic is now backed up "all the way around," an officer says, "so expect some complaints."

One car struck a curb, flattening a tire. A mechanic service is going to change out the tire with the driver's spare and she'll have to pay the expense. The cost will be $54 cash or credit, which the driver says she has. The service is en route.

The woman told police she was "confused," and an officer said she should go to the hospital.

Another car, a silver Mustang, reportedly struck a light pole whereupon the male driver abandoned the vehicle. He is known to police and has friends on Oak Street, which is where he is believed to be.

National Grid has been notified. The Department of Public Works has been notified about the pole.

A 35-year-old driver from Honeoye Falls said she didn't see the tractor-trailer barreling down Route 63 before it plowed into her 2001 Volkswagen sedan.

The woman was sent to UMMC with non-life-threatening injuries and issued a citation for allegedly failing to yield the right of way.

The accident occurred at 6:27 p.m. (initial report)

Brandy M. Temple said she stopped at the intersection of Route 246 (Perry Road) and Route 63, and then proceeded southeast when her car was struck by a 2008 International driven by Dumitru Ban, 36, of Mississauga, Ontario, Canada.

Ban was not injured.

There is a stop sign on Perry Road at that intersection, but Route 63 is designated for through traffic.

The accident was investigated by Sgt. Greg Walker.

A driver said he was "playing with the radio" just before his car crossed into oncoming traffic on Lewiston Road, leading to a two-car accident at 6:42 p.m., Saturday.

The driver, Matthew J. Zon, 29, of East Main Street, Bryon, was transported to UMMC with non-life-threatening injuries. He was also cited for allegedly moving from lane and unlicensed operation of a vehicle.

Thomas Oliver, 34, of Iris Avenue, West Seneca, who was driving the other car, was not injured.

Neither driver had passengers.

The accident was investigated by Deputy Cory Mower.

A two-vehicle accident with possible injuries is reported in the area of 8297 Lewiston Road in the Town of Batavia. It is blocking southbound traffic, but there is a lot of distance between the two vehicles.

There is debris everywhere. Law enforcement on scene requests traffic control.

Town of Batavia Volunteer Firefighters and Mercy EMS are responding.

UPDATE 6:51 p.m.: The two vehicles are about 200 yards apart. One is heavily damaged. The debris field is described as pretty large. Northbound Lewiston is being shut down at Veteran's Memorial Drive.

UPDATE 7 p.m.: Oakfield Fire Police are requested to shut down southbound traffic on Route 63 at Batavia-Oakfield Townline Road. Another fire police vehicle is called for at Galloway Road.

UPDATE 7:35 p.m.: Route 63 is re-opened to southbound traffic at Batavia-Oakfield Townline Road. Traffic at Galloway Road is also re-opened.

The owners and staff of Alex's Place, Park Road, Batavia, are in mourning this weekend following the apparent death of head chef Russell Bugbee, 31.

While the Orleans County Sheriff's Office has not officially identified Bugbee as the driver of a car involved in a one-car accident at 11 p.m., Thursday, in Murray, Alex's was closed Friday after word of the accident reached owners Matt and Jennifer Gray.

The accident remains under investigation and official identification of Bugbee as the victim is awaiting a medical examiner's confirmation.

Matt Gray issued the following statement this afternoon:

On Thursday night, Alex’s Place lost our family member and friend Russell Bugbee. Russ was in a one-vehicle accident on Route 31 in the Town of Murray, New York and was pronounced dead at the scene. We were closed for business yesterday and we would like to thank the community for the support and understanding they have shown Alex’s and our staff. A native of Connecticut, Russ moved to Batavia in 2007 for what he thought was a six-month project to help an old friend out in a new business venture, the purchasing of Alex’s Place. He never left, growing to love the town and the people (and hating the snow). Over the last three years he made Alex’s his own with his creativity and dedication, becoming an integral part of our daily lives both at work and out. At just 31 years old and so talented he left us far too early. A memorial service is planned to be held on Monday, November 1st at Alex’s Place, time to be announced. A collection is being held for his family and donations can be sent care of Alex’s Place, 8322 Park Road, Batavia, NY 14020.

An elderly man's scooter accidentally accelerated while entering a handicapped-accessible elevator at the Jell-O Museum in Le Roy on Friday, causing the man to fall 34 inches.

It's not clear why the scooter accelerated.

The man's identity or medical condition is not available at this time.

The initial scanner call reported he went into cardiac arrest and was transported to UMMC.

Sgt. Tim Hayes of the Le Roy Police Department said the man was entering the motorized platform of the elevator, which provides access to three levels of the museum, when the electric mobility scooter accelerated. The scooter struck the top of the door from the lower level. The door opened and the victim and his scooter fell about 34 inches striking the pavement below.

The investigation is ongoing and no further information is available at this time.

6:24 a.m.: Two flatbeds requested to the scene to move the vehicles. No word on how serious the injuries are.
