'Country Done Come To Town' concert at The Ridge

Scrap metal collection event to benefit local Animal Shelter

Come out and support the animals of the Genesee County Animal Shelter. Volunteers for Animals are collecting scrap metal to raise money for the animals.

Sunday, April 27th
11 a.m to 3 p.m.
3841 W. Main St. Road, Batavia (Shelter parking lot)

We are accepting metal of any kind: railings, doors, garbage cans, file cabinets, bicycle frames, gutters, pipes, poles, fencing, window frames, lawn furniture, tools, shelving, washing machines, dryers, stoves, wheel barrows, wagons, etc.

National MS Society update tonight at Clarion Hotel on progess of research

Just as the National MS Society invests $29 million in new research to support an expected 83 MS research projects to stop multiple sclerosis, local MS researchers will be updating the community on “MS Research: The Progress, The Promise,” at the Clarion Hotel in Batavia tonight (Thursday, April 10). The free event is from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and is open to the public and hosted by the National MS Society Upstate New York Chapter. The Clarion is located at 8250 Park Road.

GCC's Children's Theatre ensemble matinee performance of traditional collection of Japanese stories

Genesee Community College Forum Players Children's Theatre ensemble is pleased to present "Tales from Japan," a unique collection of traditional Japanese stories written by Patricia Montley and produced by special arrangement with Playscripts, Inc.

The performance is a Sunday Matinee at 2 p.m. on April 27 in the Stuart Steiner Theatre at GCC's Batavia Campus.

Genesee Community College Forum Players Children's Theatre ensemble is pleased to present "Tales from Japan," a unique collection of traditional Japanese stories written by Patricia Montley and produced by special arrangement with Playscripts, Inc.

Performances are at 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, April 25 - 26, with a Sunday Matinee at 2 p.m.  on April 27 in the Stuart Steiner Theatre at GCC's Batavia Campus.

Jack Hirsch Comedy Hypnosis act at Batavia High School Auditorium

Enjoy an evening of laughter at the auditorium at Batavia High School on Friday, Jan. 24. That's when the Jack Hirsch Comedy Hypnosis act will take place, starting at 7 p.m.

Tickets are $10 in advance and can be obtained at Big Pauly's Pizza, all Batavia schools, varsity basketball games and from members of the Batavia High School Alpine Ski Team, which is hosting the event. Tickets can also be purchased at the door for $12.

Annual Oakfield Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving morning to benefit charity

The Oakfield Turkey Trot 2013 will begin at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 28, (Thanksgiving morning) at the Caryville Inn in Oakfield. It is located at 25 Main St.

Registration begins at 8 a.m. and the cost is $15; Children 10 and under are free.

There will also be a raffle for a  wine basket and a children's basket. Raffle tickets are 10 for $5.

Mobile food pantry at Batavia Assembly of God - for GC residents, no income requirements

Care-A-Van Ministries is partnering with FoodLink of Rochester to host a mobile food pantry. It will be at the Batavia Assembly of God Church from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 1. The church is located at 24 N. Spruce St.

The exact food items available are not known, but fresh produce will be available. Several local agencies will also be partnering with Care-A-Van Ministries and FoodLink to provide information about their services.

Fundraising event at Sweet Ecstasy Bakery for sensory processing disorders

A fundraising event for the Sensory Processing Disorder Foundation is set for 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 20, at the Sweet Ecstasy Bakery & Cafe in Downtown Batavia.

There will be multiple vendors set up for sales, a Chinese auction, trick-or-treating from table to table for kids as well as a craft area set up, and wine tasting for the adults that come through.

October is Sensory Awareness Month. The event is called Sensation Celebration -- Shopping for a Cause.

Batavia High School Open House

Batavia High School hold its annual Open House beginning at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 10 until approximately 8:30 p.m. All parents of BHS students are invite. Starting at 6 p.m. parents may pick up their child’s schedule in the Main Lobby to follow for the evening.

Senior parents are encouraged to stop by the Counseling Center during the evening to discuss the College Application Process. Please attend our annual Open House and be a part of your child’s high school experience.

GCLP 'Liberty Tent' on Washington Avenue -- meet the Libertarian candidates!

The Genesee County Libertarian Party's Liberty Tent will be open to the public from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2013 at 7 Washington Ave. in Batavia.

All City of Batavia residents, especially those in Ward 3, are invited to meet City Council candidates Jim Rosenbeck and Lisa Whitehead and County Legislator candidate Robert Brown.

Jim, Lisa, Bob, and GCLP members want to hear what's on the minds of the citizens in Batavia!

Winter Wonder-filled Storytelling at Richmond library

A new program is offered at Richmond Memorial Library in Batavia during winter break.

Storytellers, Rebecca and Rachel Oshlag will enchant you with winter tales during our special Winter Wonder-filled Storytelling program on at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 2. After stories we will create snow globes and sip cocoa.

Registration is required. Children ages 6 and up are welcomed. The library is located at 19 Ross St.
