GC Health Department offers FREE anti-rabies vaccination clinic at Pembroke Highway Department

The Genesee County Health Department, Division of Environmental Health, will hold an anti-rabies immunization clinic from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 20, at the Pembroke Highway Department.

The location is 1145 Main Road (Route 5), Pembroke.

Each dog, cat and ferret brought to the clinic must be leashed or crated and accompanied by someone who can control the animal.

Dog, cat and ferret vaccinations are FREE. Voluntary donations are accepted.

The Genesee County Health Department, Division of Environmental Health, will hold an anti-rabies immunization clinic from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 16, at the Genesee County Fairgrounds.

The location is 5031 E. Main St., Batavia.

Each dog, cat and ferret brought to the clinic must be leashed or crated and accompanied by someone who can control the animal.

Dog, cat and ferret vaccinations are FREE. Voluntary donations are accepted.

'A Fireside Tribute to Howard Frank Mosher' at Richmond library

Richmond Memorial Library, 19 Ross St., Batavia, is hosting “A Fireside Tribute to Howard Frank Mosher” on Saturday, Feb. 17, from 1-2 p.m. in the library’s Reading Room.

The late Howard Frank Mosher was the Tale for Three Counties’ author in 2004 and was well-known for his travels to bookstores and libraries across the country to read and talk about his books.

'Effective Communication Strategies' for caregivers of dementia patients offered free at Woodward library, Le Roy

Persons diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease or another type of dementia undergo changes in the brain that will affect their ability to communicate, including limiting the ability to speak. The Alzheimer’s Association WNY Chapter is offering a free educational program aimed at helping bridge the communication gap that is inevitable as the disease progresses.

The Mighty St. Joe's Drum & Bugle Corps invites people who are interested in joining its ranks to an Open House from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 14, at Wolcott Street School in Le Roy.

The school is located at 2-6 Trigon Park (off East Main Street).

Mighty St. Joe's Drum & Bugle Corps is a noncompetitive group from the WNY/Rochester area, which participates in parades, indoor concerts and field shows. It is looking for new members of all ages and all sections, including brass, percussion, working guard and Honor Guard.

There’s so much talk these days about how polarized we have become as a nation. People digging in and unable to hear what others are saying. Trying to turn differences of opinions into win – lose arguments.

We also may feel so resentful of people who disagree with us that we want to dominate or eliminate them. People are hurt, and we walk away shaking our heads, wondering why. But what if there was another way?

The Genesee County Health Department is offering a Free Anti-Rabies Immunization Clinic on Thursday, Feb. 8, from 4-7 p.m. at the Town of Batavia Highway Garage, 3833 W. Main Street Road, Batavia.

Vaccinations are free for dogs, cats and ferrets. Each animal must be leashed or crated and accompanied by an adult who can control it. Voluntary donations are accepted.

Car wash fundraiser today for BHS cross-country team

Some members of Batavia High School's cross-country team would like you to slide into their carwash today from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Empire Tractor, 5072 E. Main Street Road, Batavia.

There is no set price per vehicle but donations will be accepted to help toward their annual New York City trip coming up this fall.

Batavia High School featured on Good Day Rochester

Batavia High School students volunteered early this morning to be featured live on this week's edition of "Friday Morning Lights" on Fox channel 13 Rochester.

Hannah Welker 13WHAM News/FOX Rochester morning reporter was setting up before 6:30 a.m. to prepare for this week's show. Hannah was very impressed with the school spirit of the students at BHS.  

Many athletic teams, including Batavia football, cheerleading and girls volleyball to name a few, attended today's event. The Blue Zoo will be traveling to Rochester this Sunday to cheer on the undefeated Blue Devils at 1 p.m.

Batavia High School's new mascot makes debut appearance

Meet Senior Josh Kurtz who wears the new mascot uniform for sporting events for Batavia. 

The classes of 2015 and 2016 got together and told the administration that the old mascot uniform was in rough shape. Students lobbied for a new one.

Kutz said, “We needed one that would best represent the school spirit that our student body could give.”

Last night’s girls sectional volleyball matchup in the gymnasium was the first appearance at a sporting a for the restylized mascot.

Darien Lake's all-new fall weekend attraction this month only: Harvest Fest

The summer season has come to a close but that doesn’t mean outdoor fun is at an end. In fact, Darien Lake will remain open through the end of September and is featuring an all-new fall attraction – Harvest Fest.

The park will be open for Harvest Fest the last two weekends in September including the 19th, 20th, 26th and 27th. Vacations guests will receive exclusive access to Harvest Festival on Friday, Sept. 18th and 25th.
