Free Movie Night is Friday, June 15, at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Batavia. "Courageous: Honor Begins at Home" will be shown starting at 7:30 p.m.

Free popcorn and soda pop!

From the creators of "Fireproof," this is a film that is "triumphantly American and unashamedly Christian," according to a review in Canada Free Press.

'Mr. Magic' performs free show for all ages at Woodward library, Le Roy

He is a Le Roy High School graduate and is returning to his hometown for a FREE Libraries Rock! Magic Show!

It will begin at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 20, at Woodward Memorial Library.

Special ceremony at Batavia VA Medical Center to honor the American flag

This Sunday, June 10, the public is invited to the Batavia VA Medical Center for a special ceremony to honor the American flag.

The ceremony will begin at 1 p.m. honoring those service men and women who have fought to protect that flag and our country.

There will be a motorcycle procession, Special Presentation of Colors, and a special thank you from the Batavia Middle School honoring Mr. Leo Pelton (98 years young) for his service in World War II.

Genesee County Libertarian Party Convention at T.F. Brown's

The 2018 GCLP convention will be Monday June 4, at 6:30 p.m.; we will meet in the side room at T.F. Brown’s Restaurant, 214 Main St.

There are a couple things of note for you to think about between now and then. 

We will be electing a new Chairperson for sure. I shall be resigning as soon as the next chair is elected.

4-H Sheep Club car wash fundraiser at Batavia Tractor Supply

There will be a car wash at the Tractor Supply Co. store in Batavia from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 26, to raise money for the Genesee County 4-H Sheep Club.

It is located at 4974 E. Main Street Road.

All proceeds will go toward fair awards/trophies and barn improvements at the GC Fairgrounds.

Cost is $5 per vehicle.

The club will also be selling hotdogs, chips, soda and water at the fundraiser.

Town of Byron draft comprehensive plan update -- public info meeting at South Byron Fire Hall

The Town of Byron has been working on an update of the Town’s 1993 Comprehensive Plan. A DRAFT Plan Update is now available.

The Comprehensive Plan is a document that guides and controls future growth and development in the community. It looks at the Town’s existing conditions and past trends, and sets forth a vision for the future, along with strategies for how to improve conditions in the Town.

GC Chamber hosts Business After Hours Tuesday at O'Lacy's

'Park Paws' dog walk at GC Park & Forest, must preregister

Bring your best friend and join us for Park Paws Dog Walk at the Genesee County Park and Forest from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday May 26th!

This guided walk is great for socialization and healthy exercise! Meet at the Interpretive Nature Center in Genesee County Park & Forest.

Dogs must be on a leash at all times. Current license or proof of rabies vaccination is required. Aggressive dogs will not be allowed to participate.

This Tuesday, May 15th, is Fine Arts Night at Jackson Primary from 5 to 7 p.m. for Jackson Primary families as well as the community! Come see the childrens' artwork, listen to some singing, and enjoy refreshments.

Don't feel like cooking? Local food trucks, including Center Street Smokehouse, The Red Osier Landmark Restaurant, Stafford and Froyo that will be parked behind Jackson Primary from 4-8 p.m. Jackson Primary will receive a portion of all purchases. It is sure to be a fun night!

Costumed portrayal of Elizabeth Cady Stanton at meeting of Stafford Historical Society

On Wednesday, May 23, the Stafford Historical Society will be presenting at their monthly meeting a program by Melinda Gruber, of Cayuga College.
 
She will be presenting her costumed interpretation of "Elizabeth Cady Stanton," who was one of the women behind the Women's Suffrage movement.
 
Our meeting starts at 7 p.m. at the Stafford Town Hall, 8903 Route 237.

Public hearing at Pavilion Town Hall on Water Storage Tank Improvement Project

New York State Senator Michael H. Ranzenhofer has announced today (May 9) $325,000 in state funding to support a Water Storage Tank Improvement Project in the Town of Pavilion.

The Town of Pavilion will host a public hearing today at 7:30 p.m. at Town Hall, 1 Woodrow Drive, to provide more information about the project to residents.

"This landmark investment will make it possible to extend water services to over 200 households that don’t have access now,” Ranzenhofer said.

Jazz Sunday at First Presbyterian Church, Batavia

Sunday, May 13th, is Jazz Sunday at the First Presbyterian Church in Batavia. It is located at 300 E. Main St.

Hosting the local jazz group, DSP, the church will sing such favorites as "Precious Lord," "Take My Hand" and "When the Saints Go Marching In."

The jazz combo will play before church and during the coffee hour afterward.

The Sanctuary Choir will sing "Wade in the Water" with their accompaniment.
