Annual auction and bake sale at St. Paul Lutheran School in Batavia

St. Paul Lutheran School is holding their annual auction on Saturday, Feb. 9th. The doors open at 3:30 p.m. and bidding begins at 4 o'clock.

The auction is to be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church and School located at 31 Washington Ave., Batavia.

Items to be auctioned are theme baskets, handmade items, craft items and certificates. There is also a bake sale. The Snack Shack will be open!

The proceeds will benefit the school's tuition fund.

Learn to make Irish soda bread in culinary class at GO ART!

Culinary Class at GO ART! on March 14-- Irish Soda Bread Chef Tracy Burgio will be leading culinary class. Class starts at 6 p.m. and generally lasts two hours. Cost is $50 per person. Reception for several art exhibits at GO ART!

Teachers’ Art Exhibit is on display at GO ART! Feb. 28 through April 6. Also for that time span, an exhibit by artist David Miner will be on display, facilitated by Arc of Genesee Orleans.

There will be an Artist Reception for several exhibits exhibits from 6 to 8 p.m. on March 21 at GO ART!

The Reception will also include the Members’ Challenge Art Exhibit "Wonderland" and the juried art exhibit "Art of the Rural."

Learn to make chocolate truffles this Valentine's Day at GO ART!

On Feb. 14 -- Valentine's Day, there will be a Culinary Class at GO ART! on how to make chocolate truffles.
 
Chef Tracy Burgio will be the instructor. Class starts at 6 p.m. and will last about two hours.

Great Batavia Train Show at GCC's Richard C. Call Arena

The Genesee Society of Model Engineers announces that their semi-annual GREAT BATAVIA TRAIN SHOW will be held at the Richard C. Call Arena in Batavia. This venue on the campus of Genesee Community College offers unmatched convenience and for attendees and vendors.

GC Libertarian Party moves monthly meeting at T.F. Brown's to Tuesdays

Happy New Year...As we begin 2019 we are moving our meeting date to the first Tuesday of the month to see if more of you can attend.

So this month's meeting will be on Tuesday, Jan. 8, at 6:30 p.m. at T.F. Brown's in the side room. It is located at 214 E. Main St., Batavia.

Meeting topics to include Rules that were filed with the NYBOE by Larry Sharpe on Dec. 24.We have ballot access now and we must operate under a certain set of rules as per NYBOE. Bring a friend or anyone who is interested in the GCLP.

A new photography exhibit entitled the "Beauty of Western New York" by Don Fryling is now showing at GO ART!, located in the historic Seymour Building at 201 E. Main St. in Downtown Batavia.
 
The exhibit runs through Jan. 20.
 
There will be an artist reception for Fryling from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 17. Tavern 2.o.1 will be open.

Pembroke Girls Basketball Team's eighth annual 'Shooting for a Cure!' breast cancer fundraiser for Roswell Park, vs. Norte Dame

The eighth annual "Shooting for a Cure!" fundraiser for breast cancer research at Roswell Park will be held at Pembroke High School's gymnasium.

Mike Randall performs as Charles Dickens in 'A Christmas Carol' at GCC

What do Gettysburg and Charles Dickens have in common? In 1868, both were "cleaning up." One from the devastation of the famous battle, while the other was raking in cash doing a tour of America in which he read and performed his famous work, "A Christmas Carol."

This Friday night, Dec. 21, the GCC History Club will call on Buffalo Meteorologist Mike Randall to summon the spirits of Jacob Marley and the ghosts of Christmas past, present and future as he performs "A Christmas Carol" in the guise of Charles Dickens.
